Summary

The author, René Junge, details their third day as an erotica writer, focusing on the translation and publishing process of their second series installment, and reflects on their progress and plans for the future.

Abstract

René Junge, an emerging erotica writer, provides an update on their third day of writing, which has been dedicated to translating the second part of their series into English and publishing it through Kindle Unlimited. Starting early in the morning, the author completed the translation and proofreading by noon and published the book within a quarter of an hour using the KDP Dashboard. With four books now published since Monday, two in German and two in English, Junge has seen modest sales and a significant number of pages read via Kindle Unlimited. The author discusses the limitations of the German KDP Dashboard's categories for adult books and the competitive disadvantage of not being able to access more diverse categories in the American Kindle Store. Junge also shares a book recommendation for aspiring erotic authors and mentions their engagement on Twitter. Looking ahead to Friday, the author plans to write the third part of their series and prepare articles for Medium to be published over the weekend.

That’ S How My Third Day as an Erotica Writer Went

It looks like I’ll be making money on my books mainly through Kindle Unlimited.

Today I write my daily report much earlier in the day than the last two days. So the third day is only half over at the time of this update.

After the second part of my first series went online yesterday, I had decided not to write anything new for today. I actually kept to it.

Instead, today was dedicated to the English translation of part two.

My working day started at half-past seven in the morning. Around noon the translation, including proofreading, was ready.

The subsequent publishing process via the KDP Dashboard took less than a quarter of an hour.

So I have published four books since Monday. Two of them are in German, and the other two are the corresponding translations into English.

These four books have generated two sales at €2.99 and 373 read pages via Kindle Unlimited since Tuesday.

Ranking

Unlike in the USA, the German KDP Dashboard has very few sub-categories for adult books when uploaded. The books I write only fit into two categories. By the way, this is the case in the German Kindle Shop for all erotica stories.

The other categories for erotica are “Tips for gays,” “Tips for lesbians,” “mangas,” “classics,” “photography & illustrated books,” and “cartoons and comics.”

For everything that doesn’t fit into these categories, the only category that remains is the vast “ Stories and Novels” category.

As an author from Germany, I can’t access the much more diverse categories of the American Kindle Store for my English books, either. This is a competitive disadvantage for me.

In the next few days, I will try to find out if the support can help me sort my books into the appropriate categories in the American store.

During the breaks, again, I read a lot today. Readers of my last articles recommended me a few books, and I immediately bought one of them.

If you also want to write and sell eroticism, I recommend this book by Amy Cooper:

Again I would like to point out that I do not know the author and that I do not earn money with this recommendation.

But back to my results.

In the German Kindle Store, I reached yesterday a rank in the Top 300 of the erotica category “Novels and Stories.”

Since I don’t know what the overall market for erotica in the German Kindle Store looks like, I can’t judge yet how good this rank is. However, I assume that some customers have purchased my books through Kindle Unlimited without having started reading them yet. Otherwise, my rank would have to be much worse.

What else happened today? Much more than the translation and upload of volume two in the English version I didn’t manage today. But since it’s only about half-past two in the afternoon, that’s not so bad.

In my breaks, besides reading, I also worked a bit on my new Twitter account. I have new erotic authors I can follow, and I retweeted a few tweets.

What will tomorrow bring?

Tomorrow is Friday, so the final spurt of the week. Since I will have little or no time to work on the weekend, I’ll have to step on the gas again tomorrow.

First, I need two articles for Medium, which I can publish on Saturday and Sunday.

But most of all, I want to write the whole third part of my series. The rest of today, I will think about the story and develop a rough plot so that I can start working on it tomorrow morning.

If everything goes well, I can publish part three of my first series tomorrow in the late afternoon.

Until then, I wish you a nice day or evening (depending on where you live on our beautiful globe).

I would be glad to welcome you again tomorrow.
