My Second Day as a New Writer of Erotica.

As a long-time and successful author of thrillers, I have entered a new genre. Under a different name and with zero followers, I try to become successful as an erotica author. Here I report regularly about how the project is going.

The second day of my new career is almost behind me. I have learned a lot again and achieved the first small successes.

I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with you exclusively and first-hand.

What has happened so far

The story of why I am writing erotic short stories now, I have already told in an earlier article. If you don’t know it already, you can read it here:

So after I decided to do this, I immediately started reading books by successful female authors explaining how to become successful with erotica in the Kindle-Shop.

At the same time, I wrote my first two short stories. Yesterday, I published my first short story collection of almost 5000 words.

In my article from yesterday, you can read in detail what I accomplished on that day.

Today, Wednesday, the fifth of August 2020

The first thing I looked at today after getting up was my KDP Dashboard.

Neither the German nor the English version of my book has had a sale yet. I did not expect otherwise.

BUT there were pages read in Kindle Unlimited. According to this, the German version was read three times overnight, and the English version twice. How many downloads there were, I can’t tell directly from that, but three and two would be very satisfying for the first day.

Afterward, I sat down at the laptop and wrote part two of the series, which is now planned to consist of six parts.

In the early afternoon, the story was finished with 6211 words. I had already created the cover with the cover for volume one the day before, so today, I only had to proofread it.

After ninety minutes, this was also done, and I could upload the book to Amazon. I took the keywords from the first volume, and also the book description needed only minimal changes.

So now, there are already two short-story volumes online in German. The English version of part two I will create and upload tomorrow.

After I went shopping in between and prepared dinner with my wife, I returned to the computer to open the official Twitter account of my erotica pseudonym.

The new email address I needed for this I had already registered yesterday. Therefore the account opening went fast and smoothly.

After a short hashtag search, I quickly found many other erotic authors I could follow.

Afterward, I posted my first tweet and waited for what would happen. After only half an hour, I already had my first four followers and two retweets. Not bad for a brand new account without social proof and with only one tweet.

I am looking forward to continuously build up my Twitter account in the next months and to make many new contacts.

What comes next?

As I said, tomorrow, I will first translate volume two into English and publish it.

After that, I will start with volume three, continue to build up my Twitter account, and take care of other small things.

At the end of the day, just like today, I will write down my daily progress and publish it here.

This feeling of starting something completely new is unbeatable motivating. Maybe I’m crazy to put this project on my to-do list as well, but I hardly have any other choice.

I have decided to earn my money by writing and to be my own boss. I do absolutely everything necessary to keep it that way.

I’ll see you back here tomorrow.

Have a good day and evening.
