Eight Days in as an Erotica Author — My Fourth Book Is Online
Amazon finally shows the new covers.
Yesterday I waited over 48 hours for Amazon US to show my new covers finally. I had to wait until today, but now it is done.
My new covers are much more discreet and don’t show any naked skin. So I hope that Amazon will release my three books from the Adult Dungeon soon. Today I wrote to the support of KDP and asked them to review them again.
In Germany, there is a heatwave at the moment, and so I sit in front of my computer like wilted vegetables from ten o’clock in the morning at the latest. I try to start early, but usually, I don’t make it until eight o’clock.
Right now, we have 32 degrees Celsius (that’s 89.6 Fahrenheit). I take a break every twenty minutes to go out on the terrace and pull my e-cigarette. Nothing is more exhausting than writing hot sex scenes in the heat, believe me.
Nevertheless, I managed to finish volume four of my short story series today and upload it to Amazon.
It’s only the German version for now, which I always start with. The translation into English will be done tomorrow. Today my brain is cooked, and I have to leave work soon.
Apart from volume four of the erotic series, I continued to work on the plot for my next thriller. I am especially motivated right now because Amazon has chosen one of my books (of the thrillers) for the next prime reading wave. So there is additional income for me. That always makes me very happy.
It will certainly never happen that one of my erotica books is chosen for prime reading or any deal. That, and the fact that erotica can’t be advertised practically anywhere, is what makes my new genre most different from my regular genre.
By the way, the weather seems to paralyze not only me but also the readers. Yesterday none of my erotica books sold, and the number of pages read about KIndle Unlimited was two thirds less than the day before.
But at the moment I’m not really interested in the numbers yet. Nobody knows my new pseudonym, and there are no existing readers, however. As an erotica writer, I start from scratch. If I had the same numbers in my thrillers, I would shoot myself, but it is impossible to compare the two with each other.
I still have a lot of desire to develop this new project and make it big. Every day I read blog articles, ebooks, tweets, and posts in Facebook groups on the subject of publishing eroticism. I am continually learning more and more and understand more and more what it’s really about.
What makes the production of eroticism no different from other genres is the basic principle. Success is only possible if you publish good stories regularly and quickly. And if you do that, you also have to be patient for many months until you see some good results.
Fortunately, I am used to playing the long term game. If you are impatient, you should do many things, but not write.
I’m going to call it a day and give in to the heat. My wife and I will put something on the grill later and have a good time.
Tomorrow I will start the translation of volume four.
Until then, I wish you all the best and make sure you don’t get heatstroke.
