🌟 Tune into your emotions: What emotion(s) are you feeling this season?
Guess what, it’s not Sunday when I usually release these weekly updates! Truthfully, I’ve been so relaxed and temporally confused I still think today is Monday, even though it’s Wednesday.
It’s that part of the rest season, and for this, I am grateful.
These past weeks have been full of joy, celebration and rest. It’s been such a contrast from the rest of 2021 (and frankly, 2020), the year that brought me:
Wouldn’t it be fine and dandy to feel good all the time? (Debatable)
At the same time, I want to make space for listening to your own body and how emotions emerge, as thoughts, feelings, physical sensations. For some, the holidays are full of rest and joy and connection. For others, it’s full of anger as you’re forced to interact with people who overstep boundaries but are expected to deal with them “in name of tradition”.
So, listen in. Don’t label the emotions as good or bad, positive or negative. Just listen. What are your emotions telling you, as of late? How much of it is true? How much of it would you like to change? What might you have to accept, vs. what is within your ability to change?
Though this is the theme of the shortform challenge of the week, feel free to explore this further if it appeals to you, in the form of poetry or even an essay. (The Brain is a Noodle accepts essays in response to writing prompts!)
Or, just jot this down in your notebook or phone’s notepad. Set it on fire when you’re done if you never want anyone to see it (the notebook or the notepad entry, not the phone!!!!!!!!!)
This week’s shortform prompt
What are your emotions telling you, asof late? How much ofitistrue? How much ofit would you like to change? What might you have to accept, vs. what is within your ability to change?

Wait, you’ve read to the bottom? Woooooot! It may just be you and me here, at the end. So, highlight this and tell me your favourite fast-food order. I want to know 👀 Mine’s the bacon cheeseburger from Five Guys, with extra cajun seasoning on the fries that I order as a side.
