There’s a Very Thin Line Between Spirituality and Delusion

Understanding the concept of duality and non-duality

I. False Light Teachings

I turned off the light in my living room in an effort to understand duality and non-duality. I expected to still see light after I flipped the switch as non-duality suggests, but not to my surprise, darkness surrounded me.

A mass murderer went to a school and shot down innocent children, killing many of them in the process. I tried hard to see the good in his actions as non-duality suggests, but all I could see was pure, red evil.

In the absence of light, there is darkness. In the absence of good, there is evil, but non-duality says there’s only good and light, sunshine, and rainbows.

The non-dualistic approach suggests that everything is roses, and the thorns? They do not exist no matter how visible they are. All there is is the beauty of the rose which makes the thorns okay. This is an example of the dangers on the spiritual path. If you pluck a rose without care, you will bleed. Just because a rose is beautiful does not mean its thorns can’t hurt you.

If you wake up, you are called, but you have to be careful of certain teachings that will keep you from being chosen. Many are called but few are chosen.

There are false teachers and prophets who have crept in unnoticed leading masses to destruction with their false light teachings. They teach love, and light, good, and roses, and sunshines, and cupcakes but refuse to talk about fear and darkness, evil and the thorns in the flesh, the storms and the bad cupcakes that can make us sick!

II. Uncomfortable Truths

The dangerous path of non-duality often comes close to the end of a spiritual awakening cycle when one is sick and tired of being sick and tired of a meaningless life. It starts when one is tired of all the seeking and searching. Those who reach a point of utter despair in their awakening journey often find refuge and some comfort in non-duality.

Non-duality implies everything is one. There is good but no evil, light but no darkness, God but no devil, angels but no demons, and a Holy Spirit, but no unholy spirits. It points to the unity and oneness of everything and says there’s no division or separation between anything and everything is one.

When a person avoids the truth of reality and settles for what feels comfortable and makes logical sense, non-duality quickly becomes spiritual bypassing.

When people bypass, they suppress, repress, and avoid facing their shadows and dealing with their demons. A tough, bulletproof shell is created to disguise insecurity and fear, resulting in a dangerous spiritual ego where people argue about who knows everything and who knows nothing at all. But there are certain things we all know to be true.

In the beginning, there was one thing that existed - the Spirit of God hovering over the surface of the deep. But before the words "Let there be light" were spoken, there was complete darkness. And when the light came, it didn't stay that way. The night came to vanquish the light.

The night or the darkness though uncomfortable serves a purpose. Without the darkness, there would be no growth and we wouldn’t appreciate the light. Without pain, we wouldn’t understand pleasure. Without knowing evil, we wouldn’t strive to do good. Without God, there would be no devil or evil because God created the devil who brought evil into the world. All of these things co-exist. There’s not one without the other.

The greatest tactic of the devil is for you to believe he does not exist!

A true seeker might find some truth and wisdom in non-duality. Everything in the universe is one and connected. It’s the law, however, once the light pierced the darkness and evil entered the world, it became a dualistic world.

Nothing is as it seems. Having woken up, you should keep your eyes wide open. There is the ultimate truth and there are complete lies and the twisted truth, and on the spiritual path, you will be offered both and you have the option to choose because you have free will.

But falling for the false light and non-dualistic teachings puts you under a spell, allowing you to be deceived and fooled!

III. More Than Waking Up

It’s not just about waking up. It’s about waking up on the right side. Instead of following pop culture, seek the truth and authentic teachings no matter how uncomfortable they may be. Do not conform to the patterns of this world.

True teaching will trigger you and when you’re triggered, ask yourself why and be honest with yourself. Triggers point you to the things that need to be addressed, healed, and reconciled within your spirit so don’t despise your triggers, and don’t be tempted to shoot the messenger. Instead, be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

The concept of non-duality is attractive. Roses are beautiful and thorns are ugly, prickly things to pretend are not even a part of the rose bush. But focusing on the beauty does not take away the ugly.

Roses and thorns both exist.

You can’t trust everything you’re taught and you can’t believe every spiritual teacher. Heck! You can’t even trust me and so don’t just take my word for it. Ask for wisdom and discernment and it will be given to you so you can see through the lies and illusions and not live in a delusion.

There’s a very thin line between spirituality and delusion but discernment will help you avoid living a lie.

When information is presented to you and something feels wrong on a spirit level, you will feel it so trust your intuition. Wake up and keep waking up on the right side. Stay on the right path, and use your heart to feel your way through life but also use your head so you are not deceived.

Whoever has ears…

Life is already hard as it is and a spiritual awakening doesn’t make it any easier. But what is worse is to be deceived and led to your death and destruction by false light teachings brought to you by false teachers and prophets of the new age.
