Globetrotters Most Read and Boosted Stories from March and April
Red-hot travel stories, for your reading delight

Hello fellow Globetrotters,
All the best to you as we race toward mid-2023! Time sure zooms along, doesn’t it?
I do hope you are all doing well.
Today we bring you some of our most read stories from the last couple of months (or so) — stories of abandoned racetracks in Minnesota, quaint lovely towns in Spain, waterfalls in Oklahoma, sunsets in Oslo, superblooms in California and more great travel tidbits.
I also compiled a list of some of our many boosted stories. How fabulous is that! Congrats to these writers for getting boosted!
While there has been some speculation on whether or not boosting is working, as a pub editor I can say it certainly seems to be working for many writers and I wanted to highlight these stories.
To be sure, we editors at Globetrotters value all of our writers and their stories, even the ones that get more modest views and reads. High quality doesn’t always naturally equate to high reads.
However, I do always find it fascinating, as an editor, writer and reader, to see which stories did manage to get those coveted high views, and which stories seemed to catch people’s eye and encourage them to read.
Don’t know about you, but these stories provide me with a lot of inspiration to keep reading and working on improving my own writing!
Globetrotters most read stories
1. An Abandoned Race Track
Troy Larson’s story of nature taking over an abandoned racetrack is not only a great read but it proved popular with over 32k views so far. Amazing!
“I wandered around the site for about a half-hour with my eyes open for anyone that I might be able to talk to, but nobody was around. It was just me and the wildlife while I snapped pictures of the old catch fence.”
2. This Delicious Beach Town in Spain Could Be Your New Happy Place
KL Simmons knows well how to write a great travel story, like this one about a beautiful location in Spain. This story has garnered nearly 6k views so far and it was boosted:
“Even though I ate right before I started writing this story, I am salivating simply looking at these photos and remembering how scrumptious the food in Castelldefels tasted.”
3. The Tallest Waterfall in Oklahoma
Julia A. Keirns wrote this amazing story of a beautiful waterfall she encountered on her travels around the U.S. It has received well over 4k views so far:
“Just look at the beach going into the pool of water. I would love to sit in this water, swim under the falls, and enjoy the view all day long. Wouldn’t you?”
4. Eight Things I Hate About Italy, and You Will Probably Hate Too
This fun article by Araci Almeida made me crazy hungry!:
“Every time I visit, I come home depressed. I think afterward, why did I go there? To have so much fun and then have to go back to my mundane life and get depressed? No way, Italy, you must stop doing this to me, gal.”
5. I Scolded My Chinese Colleague For Sleeping On Her Desk
A great lesson about being careful when making hasty assumptions about other people’s culture and their ways of doing things by Veronica Llorca-Smith:
“Mistakes are bound to be made and we must be curious enough to recognize them, humble enough to apologize and mature enough to grow from them.”
6. Desert Wildflowers — A Superbloom This Year?
The superbloom in California proved to be a popular subject, just like in this great story by Michael Rhodes:
“Wandering down a trail lined with wildflowers is a reinvigorating experience and a reminder that beauty can be found even in a brown desert landscape, even if only for a few days.”
7. Applying for Global Entry: All You Need to Know
This informative story by Mariana Carvalho proved to be popular with readers as it can make life a lot easier for some frequent travelers:
“Global Entry is a program offered by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers arriving in the USA.”
8. Mother Nature Is Rejoicing From the Rain and Showing Off all of Her Colors
This superbloom story by fab travel writer Michele Maize was a true pleasure to read:
“The dirt trail heads up to a bend and once around the bend, the true viewing pleasure began. The hillsides were covered with wildflowers of all sorts.
The orange California poppies danced in the wind, mixed in with sky lupine.”
