A Medium Least Read Story Game #2 (September 2023)

It’s the CLAPPING FOR THE UNDERDOGS game.

We all have some stories here on Medium that are underloved and underappreciated. I have my own list of stories that only have one or two comments or claps, and that’s it. They’re lonely. At the bottom of the pile. Sometimes the stories end up there because we were new to Medium and had very few followers when we posted it. Sometimes, for some reason or another, it just ends up dropping from sight once we hit ‘publish’.

Some of us got together to have a Clapping for the Underdogs party. It’s a little mini-read-for-read. This is our second month. It’s only going to be a monthly thing, because I know we’re all busy trying to keep up with our reads and replying to comments.

Here they are …. Our Underdogs. Our stories that would like a little extra love.

Those of us who wanted to play the game submitted a story that we’d like to see get a little extra love.

We agreed to go read each other’s stories.

Last month we had 20 writers participating. I sat down and read all the stories in a row, so I’d have an idea of how much time was involved. It took me about two hours, give or take. This month we’ve ended up with 30 of us playing, so I’ll be reading over the course of today and the weekend. There aren’t any rules on how you do it, so, if you want to read just a few stories a day and take a week to read all the stories, that works too.

Happy reading, Happy clapping. And when we’re done, we all should have a story that is feeling a little more loved.
