Willpower Is An Answer To Success
Persistence makes you perfect
Often when you get up in the morning you say I don't want to get out of bed. “Ah! I am tired, I want to sleep. I am not feeling well”. This is an important day for you. There is a conference call and you have to finalize a deal. What should you do?
Use your willpower
Push your self and wake up! Have a cup of coffee and you will be alright!
Will power according to me is the determination to do something even if you don't feel like doing it.
I have often seen people at parties drinking themselves silly. They cannot help themselves they say.
Such people have no will power. People with strong willpower are able to achieve far more than others.
One such person I met said that the doctor had told him he would die if he drank any more alcohol as his liver would not be able to absorb it and it would pack up. He already had high blood pressure and was under risk of heart ailment if he continued drinking, but he had no willpower to stop drinking.
The next I heard this person was in the hospital with a stroke.
Another incident happened the other day. I was walking in the park near my house and I found a few people standing outside near their cars and drinking alcohol. Close to these people was a well-decorated open-air place with a tent decked with flowers and some function was taking place. Disregarding and disrespecting the host they were drinking outside and not attending the programme.
After a while, a man was lying on the floor. He suddenly fell down and there was froth in his mouth. He was sick for many days.
“Willpower means to be master of your mind” this is my quote
Willpower is the answer to success.
Your health and wellbeing both depend on your willpower.
If you have good health, you will be able to work well and be successful. It will give you happiness, positivity and comfort.
Willpower is most essential in life. I will narrate two of my own experiences of willpower where I understood the power of willpower. Fortunately for me, I have a strong will to do things and I often force myself and have never been unhappy about it.
In 2017 I fell sick with a severe case of chikungunya. I wonder how many people know what it is. It is a virus spread through mosquitoes. It makes you completely immobile. It attacks all your joints and muscles and there is acute pain in the body. You cannot sleep and the worst part is that no pain killer helps. The World Health Organisation site gives a full description of this illness.
That year there was a severe outbreak of the disease and I saw that many people were not attending work.
There were two international conferences coming up. In one of them, I had to present a paper. In the second one, I was part of the organizational committee. I was also chairing the research session.
I used my will power! Became master of my willpower. I went to work within a week and I drove to work. In all that pain, I presented the research paper and was awarded the best paper award.
This was the success of my strong will power.
In the second conference, I took out the conference proceedings book and also published all the contributor's research papers into a book after editing all the papers. We had the ribbon ceremony at the conference. The conference was a great success. I was applauded for my work and I was on cloud nine,
In 2018 I had high fever and tests diagnosed it as typhoid. A lot of people were suffering from this disease. The medicines given to me were quite strong and the stomach was quite painful.
Platelets fell to a low count and the doctor asked me to be hospitalized. No way I said. I started doing yoga as soon as the fever left me. I made up my mind that I would be well soon and had a lot of green coconut water and juice. I was well soon. I had fought with the illness through great willpower and normalcy was restored.
Willpower comes through mental and physical well being and yoga is excellent to give you that determination.
Takeaways:
#1. Do not underestimate the power of your will. If it is strong it can do wonders for you. It can make things happen in your life.
#2. Strong willpower helps you to recover from illnesses and you can recuperate faster than through any other technique.
#3. To get willpower you have to work towards it. Force yourself at times when you don’t want to get up
#4. Willpower can give you the strength to get away from drugs, cigarettes and alcohol too.
#5. Willpower gets you out of dangerous habits too. People who accumulate things like jewellery, clothes, watches or artefacts and waste money can be weaned away with persistence
To conclude:
Willpower helps you with success. I have had several experiences and have been able to do a lot of things by this wonderful tool which belongs to us. It is ‘yours’! Adopt it and make it a part of you. The change will be noticeable and felt not only by you but by others too who interact with you.
