If you’re a new member to the community, you will soon discover that there is much to learn about writing and publishing on Medium.

This is true, even if you’ve been writing online for a while now, and you’re already familiar with the writers’ life.

Freelance writing on other platforms has probably gotten you acquainted with issues like writer’s block, information overload, and impostor syndrome, to name a few.

But writing on Medium has its’ own set of challenges; aside from the website rules and regulations you’re required to follow.

For instance, there’s one particular area that a lot of new members (and even older ones) could use some good writing advice concerning.

Self promotion.

If so, your success on Medium will definitely be limited.

Past experience has shown me how having the desire and ability to promote your own writing is beneficial.

But I also discovered that self promotion is not just an activity that’s all about you.

With thousands of great writers in the community to choose from, there’s no excuse for not exerting a little effort, to show support for someone else.

You won’t believe the rewards to be gained, simply from mentioning someone you admire, or something enjoyable that you’ve read.

By now, whether you’re a new member or not, you’re probably starting to recognize that you’ve been looking at the idea of self promotion all wrong.

Not only can finding creative ways to promote your Medium stories help improve your stats, but if done properly, your actions could also help benefit more writers than just you.
