3 of My Top Stories and What Readers Had to Say About Them

RAVE REVIEWS #1: A Daily Justiss Publication Feature

One of the truly awesome thing about writing on Medium, is knowing that I’m finally on a writing platform where my work is being read.

Just how many people are reading my writing, and what percentage of the writing is actually being read is still a bit questionable. I brought this point out recently when I wrote about how a story’s read ratio is determined.

But even if less people are reading my stories than I imagine; the stories are definitely not going unnoticed. I can be certain of this, thanks to the feedback that commenting provides us.

That is why I am so appreciative to my readers when they leave responses, and I try to make it my business to respond back in a meaningful way.

That is also why I wrote this story, so I could thank every Medium reader who goes the extra mile and leaves a response after reading. I especially want to thank my own readers; particularly the ones cited below.

What are readers saying when they respond to my stories?

My top story since starting on Medium was a story about helping new members, so they can start earning money sooner. The story gained quickly gained views, although it didn’t go viral :-(

The story title is:

I Can Help Members with Less than 100 Followers Reach the New Quota

It currently has 1.3k views and 697 reads, but the really cool thing is, it had good engagement, with 174 responses!

Here’s what readers had to say:

@chauhan_roopa follow quota :-) I will be writing more about Paris, Detroit, Art, Cinema, travel experiences ... and more
Thank you Justiss for this great article with such a great 💡! Looking forward to discovering more of your work!

I also posted an article calling for follow support for those of us (like me!) who are new and need to reach 1000 followers. Good luck to us all!

Writers on Medium love to learn about making money

It’s not secret (and no shame) that many writers on Medium like to read stories about making money. Most of us are on the platform for that very purpose, no matter how much we love writing.

That is why another one of my popular stories gained be lots of views so far (relatively speaking, of course).

It didn’t do as good as the above-mentioned story, but it did okay so far, and the fat lady still hasn’t sang.

The story title is:

You Can Make Money Selling Articles on Constant Content

It currently has 553 views and 230 reads. Engagement on this story was much lower, but 23 readers were kind enough to engage by leaving a response.

Here’s what some of them had to say:

I didn't know that they were still a thing. Thank you for this. I may dust off some old ones I never published.

Now this is a very useful article. I will check it out. I appreciate the information. Years ago I wrote for a company named text broker and there you selected jobs to write for. However he drawback were the levels. If you were a level three then you can write for level three clients. It was a great place for me to sharpen my skills.

Thank you for sharing! This sounds like a great opportunity, especially for writers that might have a large back log of articles.

Possibly one of the most useful stories I've read about making money with our writing om Medium.

The subject of commenting was of real interest to readers

Judging from the engagement with this last article, the subject of commenting was of interest, because I received lots of positive feedback.

The story title is:

How Do I Benefit from Leaving Comments?

This story has 139 views and 59 reads. Comments on this particular story were left by 17 readers who responded with positive statements about what they read.

Here’s are some of those statements:

😂😂😂Indeed ! Another great one from you, Justiss and love that you acknowledge the readers and followers on your journey. Ultimately that’s why we all write — so others can enjoy our random little scribbles !

Well summarized.I have the natural urge to comment on topics I think I have something to say. I got the same experience. Out of 1000 responses we will get a few real connections. Like in real live we see 1000 people everyday, but to only a few we get connected despite saying good morning. And even lesser we make friends.

My problem is finding the time to check replies, or make comments. This is what I need to do, just give myself half an hour a day to check and respond to replies and make a few comments of my own. I think that's doable, and it will stop me from becoming sidetracked too easily.
PS I've written 3075 responses. But not all of them are responses I'm proud of! You live and learn.

I comment a lot, Justiss, but have no idea how many times. I find commenting while I’m on vacation and not publishing, keeps me from slipping off the radar.

You are such an inspiration, Justiss. I comment only and when I have something to say, but I'd never really thought about benefits. Still, as you suggest, they should be beneficial and meaningful. Great post!

Final Thoughts

Everyone who’s been reading my stories, either in my Daily Justiss publication, or some other publication, has already come to know me as a promoter.

If I said it once, I’ve said it a dozen times — I’m a big fan of self promotion. I’m always thinking of new ways to promote me and my stories, and become as visible as possible.

But you probably also recognize that I have no problem promoting other writers, with just as much zeal and enthusiasm. Doing this has a two-fold affect. I get to help myself, and help others along the way, which means it’s always a win-win situation.

If you’re looking for ways to help grow your followers and increase your readers, which ultimately leads to higher earnings, maybe you should start with commenting. The more you engage on the stories of other writers, the more stories you’ll find your readers responding to.

DEAR READER: I enjoy talking to writers on writing and providing useful. I write and share ways to help writers on Medium get more exposure. Whether you prefer self publishing all your stories, or you submit them to Medium publications, my writing advice can still benefit you.
