What I Read this Week

SUNDAY: March 6, 2022

Greetings and welcome back. I sincerely hope you’re keeping up with all the awesome stories I try to bring to your attention each week.

This past week was a really busy one for me, but I still was able to spend a little time writing about the current world crisis.

I even surprised myself by what I wrote in: God Forgive Me for Thinking Lindsey Graham Might Be Right! There’s just no way that thinking people are not going to have an opinion; even if it’s a negative or unpopular one.

But besides allowing the war in Ukraine to overshadow much of my week, I also tried to lighten things up in the community, by asking members to join me in a challenge.

Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone planned to seriously take me up on it. But I’m nothing if not resilient, so I did the challenge by myself.

As you can see from the cover image to this story; this is my 11th story like this, where I provide lots of highlights about what writers on Medium are talking about.

In case you’re lagging behind, feel free to check out this one particular story that gives you an update about my previously published “What I Read this Week” stories.

In that story, you’ll find access to 9 of the 10 stories I previously wrote for this really cool publication feature.

For everyone else who is already up to speed, here are a few comments and highlights from this past week’s stories, written by talented Medium writers.

Make sure to use this link later, when you’re ready to view everything contained in this week’s List of 35 stories that I read and logged.

BTW: I provided some tips to help you learn all about the benefits of using a list to help track the stories you read. Check them out in: WOW: I Read and Listed Nearly 300 Stories in the Past Few Weeks!

LET’S GET STARTED

This past week, I started off my reading by checking out a newer member and becoming her Follower.

This interesting new member on Medium wrote and assured us she’s not an alien — several times. Hmm. It kind of makes you wonder about Medium writer Let’s NOT Sugarcoat It with T. Nichol. Read her About Me story and determine for yourself if she’s really from this world.

Another interesting thing I did was to add something to the list that I don’t normally add. A comment from Maria Rattray, about the practice of tipping and ”buying coffee” was so noteworthy, I chose to add her lengthy Response to the list of stories.

Although as you all know, I rarely read comments on my stories, I was glad Maria’s caught my attention, so I could share her thought provoking views.

Since I love writing about Medium, I also enjoy reading about the site, plus you can hardly help it. Here’s some of what writers were saying on the subject this past week-:

Lisa Beth Wright told us why: Life Is Too Short To Live With This Much Negativity. Writer Lindsey (Lazarte) Carson shared: Why I Keep Writing for Only $20 a Month, and Laura Eve gave us some food for thought about how she plans to modify the way she does thing. Her story Why I’m Changing My Medium Writing Strategy is one that used to be mine, before I found a remedy. Laura’s story found a home in The Writing Experiment publication.

Chrissie Marie Massey tackled a topic that I wrote about myself a while back. She titled her story: Timing Is Everything — When Is The Best Time To Publish?. She published her story in the Writers Blokke publication.

Speaking of Writers’ Blokke, writer and editor Benny Lim told us the sad news about: Writers’ Blokke To Stop Adding New Writers

In a lesser familiar publication to me, An Injustice! published a story by writer Kelly Eden and I doubt you’ll see this topic covered anywhere else on Medium. Personally, I could seriously relate. Give it a read, especially you older ladies.

I loved Linda Kowalchek’s story about how to handle making your beef known online. Read about her strategy to: Write an Open Letter To Complain While You Create Content. Nice going Linda!

One of the most enjoyable stories I read this past week — and I read an awful lot of them — was a story by writer Carmellita and I was happy to publish it in one of my own publications, Just Like New.

I had actually read her: 11 Reasons Women are Better at Getting Revenge before, and I absolutely loved it. But since Just Like New accepts previously published stories, I got an opportunity to read it again when Carmellita submitted it to me.

If you want a good laugh, a good debate, or just some interesting trivia to ponder, I guarantee you’ll have fun reading this story.

OKAY FOLKS — THAT’S A WRAP FOR THE WEEK! I’LL SEE YOU NEXT TIME.
