When we think about all the writing and publishing that writers on Medium share with the community, we often forget about the stories that contain some wonderful poems.

Although I don’t really consider myself to be a poet, I’ve been known to create some pretty cool poems.

But other writers, who are more passionate about their poetry, don’t have to worry about feeling like impostors for wearing the label of poet.

The great thing about poetry, is that more than any other type of writing, poetry allows writers to express their unique selves completely and without apology or explanation.

Even certain types of poems that have distinct rules, allow for great freedom of expression.

From rhyming limericks, to free verse and Haiku; it’s all fair in love and poetry.

With only a few words, the right poem can change a mind, a life, and even a world.

Don’t you agree…

Poetry is awesome!

Poetry is a special kind of word art. Just one poem can have the power of a thousand stories, all rolled in one.

Poetry uplifts us

Poetry makes us smile

Poetry makes us laugh

Poetry makes us cry

Poetry makes us think

Poetry makes us wonder

Poetry makes us doubt

Oh, and so much more!

It’s creative and imaginative and has no rules or boundaries, so that anything can be a poem.

Even the words you just finished reading😄
