Self Promotion: Take Time to Stop and Give Yourself Applause!

What did you accomplish with your Medium stories this past week?

This past week, writing on Medium was so productive for me, I just had to write a Medium specific story, knowing full well there is probably no chance for curation or landing on the front page.

I’m excited about what I accomplished but I also want to know what all of you have been up to, that’s why I challenge you guys to “get like me” and show off your individuality.

NOTE: You can check out the two writers I mention LATER, because you don’t want to miss what’s coming up on this page!

Okay, so I got some ideas about sprucing my pages up, from some of the fancy pants designers with awesome story pages [like Medium writer Alexandre Porto].

Those of you who think you have to get extra with things, or have some kind of design skills, you don’t.

You can still applaud yourself and certain stories you’ve written, by shedding light on them each week, in a neat, clean, and simple way, just like Rosy Gee and her weekly update , which I think is super cool. Thanks. my story pages needed some pizazz.

Medium Talk

So, like I said, I’m going to share some cool information for writers, that is very Medium specific. I won’t elaborate on the material, because I’ve already written the stories. But I’ll let you know the titles of what’s available.

I’ve actually started trying to eliminate any mention of Medium in my stories, or at least not focus on site specific information; unless I plan to submit to Feedium like I’ve obviously done.

Thank goodness for Feedium, because unlike the other publications that tend to tiptoe around the obvious (such as anything related to Medium), Feedium encourages Medium talk. In fact, they love it!

Now, as for why you’re here. I have another bright idea to help me get eyeballs on my stories.

As a regular feature in my weekly writing routine, I’ll be doing a Sunday roundup (to be published whenever JJ Pryor gets around to it, hopefully the following Mondays)

I’m not going to try and explain what the format will look like, and what you can expect to see, in the way of self-promotion, and giving myself applause.

Instead, I’ve laid everything out for you right here, in this story. So prepare to enjoy a visit through my past week’s experiences, writing here on Medium, and feel free to use any of my strategies or ideas that you think may be effective for you.

I’m seeing a DEFINITE increase in my earnings everyday, but I’m no where near the bragging stage yet. It just feels good to see the stats finally start to rise, and know that if I continue doing what I’m doing, they have no place to go but up!

My goal is to inspire and motivate other Medium writers, and at the same time, help build my brand, my followers, and my fans, so enjoy, and be on the look out for some great writing tips!

Below, is what I wrote about this week. Try not to get tempted by the links, and click away to another page until AFTER you finish reading here.

I really want you to keep reading to the end of this page, or you will certainly miss out on some valuable information :-)

Be sure to take your time and look over this list. The information in each of these stories was designed to give good sound advice about writing and promoting your Medium stories. Each one has something of special value to offer you, IF you take advantage of it.

Your TAKEAWAY

What do you do to help you realize and appreciate how hard you work on your writing? If your answer is: “Nothing really.”

Then you need to think of some way to praise yourself on a regular basis, and acknowledge everything you’re doing, to reach your writing objectives.

Figuring out a way to summarize your writing week and highlight your stories just might help you gain more readers and visibility for your work.

Get creative with your page and layout. Even if you’re short on graphics and design skills, create a nice text layout and format. Just let your individuality shine through.

Make this a regular way for you to give yourself applause, and celebrate yourself. After all, if you don’t do it for yourself, who will?
