I spent a long time dating before I met my partner. I had all sorts of dating adventures.
So why should you listen to me if it took me so long to meet someone? So I can help you avoid making the same mistakes as I did, that’s why.
Dating for extended periods was too tiring. I’d try a dating site for a few months and then come off for a while.
I eventually did meet my partner online, and so did a lot of my friends and colleagues. An article from Pewresearch.org about online dating states:

Over the years it took to meet someone, I learned an awful lot about what to do and avoid. This Dating Book is a collection of my dating articles.
About Me
I’ve been writing on Medium since November 2020 and started thinking I’d write about leadership and diversity. After a few stories, I got a bit bored, so had a go at writing a dating story, then some poems, then some humor.
Continually writing about one topic is monotonous so I swap and change.

Profile pictures are your advert. If you have a terrible picture, no one is going to look at it. You can be the most wonderful person in the world, but if no-one gets past your photo, your personality doesn’t count for anything.

Coffees are more manageable, cheaper, and safer than going for dinner on a first date. Coffee dates save time because you can meet someone on your way to somewhere else. With dinner, you have to get dressed up and go somewhere just for the date.

When I started dating I was too willing to go out with people that weren’t really suitable for me. I didn’t know what I wanted or would I would accept in a partner. Gradually I drew up a list of non-negotiable, and once I stuck to it, I quickly found my partner.

The law will be different in every country, but in NZ, if you are in a defacto relationship with someone for three years, they are entitled to half your net worth. Wherever you are, make sure you know what the law is and how to avoid losing half of your hard-earned assets.
