I Don’t Have a Niche — I Have a Saucy, Multi-Layered Nichewich
With all the fixin’s
I am not a plain sandwich. Do not call me Peanut Butter and Jelly on White Bread. Nope. I’m a Saucy, Multi-Layered Sandwich With a Side of Sweet Potato Fries and Special Sauce kind of gal.
Don’t Niche with this B*itch!
Viral writers often instruct, “Niche down! Or else…You won’t find your audience, you won’t make big bucks, and you won’t get really good writing about personal development.” Yeah, I said it.
Well, to that I say, “Calm down!”
“You are not getting this b*itch to niche down. You know why? I like variety. Fill my sandwich up with portobello mushrooms, pickles, bacon, chicken, avocados, mustard, mayo, olives, seasonings, and put it on rye bread for good measure. Bring me a side of sweet potato fries with an interesting sauce and a tall glass of water to wash it down.”
The Nichesters roll their listy eyes my way.
I reply, “Go Niche Yourself! Nichesters.”
“You will not keep the Nichewiches down.”
Who’s with me? I know I have compadres who refuse to sit on the side of the room where the same formulaic writing is devoured and regurgitated, day in and day out, for new hopeful entrepreneurs and dewy-eyed writers.
Where are my cynics? I’ve got a table for you. We can exacto knife skulls, hearts, and initials into the wooden table. We will say to the boring Nichesters, who dress and look much like Hipsters, “Sit at the table with your comrades and eat your plain, boring sandwiches while we talk at the big kid table.”
“K? K.”
Talk at the Nichewich Table
The question: “What does one personal development expert say to the other?” Heckling chuckles ricochet around the highballs, beers, perriers, orange juice, and other assorted drinks. Nichewiches aren’t sheeple people.
The sarcastic reply: “Focus on personal development to further develop yourself. Stick to one or two topics maximum so you don’t lose your audience. You will experience lots of personal growth….because personal growth and personal development come from limiting your thoughts and life experiences,” said no one ever.
Delicious conversation, with a variety of food for thought ensues along with heated debates that end with no winners until we sulk to our computers with full bellies and stories to write.

In conclusion, variety is the spice of life. Write about whatever you want to write about. Make it interesting for your readers. Make them want to dig into your juicy, multilayered nichewich. You’ve got the skills.
