Globetrotter’s Stories December 10th — 16th, 2023
Spirits soar high!

Hello Globetrotters!
As many people scurry about getting ready for the upcoming holiday season, we have seen a slight reduction in the amount of submissions that we have received this past week. But that doesn’t mean that we haven’t read some great stories!
Sit back and relax while you ready yourselves for some awe-inspiring reads in this weekly wrap-up.
Monthly Challenge
Our monthly challenge responses never disappoint us! As usual, we are receiving many responses to our December prompt Spiritual Sites. If you are interested in taking part, please read the introduction post and the submission guidelines by Anne here.
Carol Labuzzetta, MS Natural Resources, MS Nursing takes us to two of her favorite spiritual places. I agree with everything she says about the Redwoods; they are awe-inspiring!
Scott-Ryan Abt also finds spirituality in nature. This time in the stunning coastal mountains of British Columbia, Canada.
Rhonda Carrier had a fascinating experience at a traditional tea ceremony in Japan.
She then goes on to tell us about her experience of living in Jerusalem.
Joe Guay - Dispatches From the Guay Life! writes about hanging out in a somewhat unusual spiritual place. I do agree, though — cemeteries are very peaceful places to sit for a while.
Our Spiritual Secret Weapon? The Cemetery.

Adrienne Beaumont tells us about times that she has felt spiritual while traveling — and times she hasn’t.
Favorite Read
Paul S. Marshall has an incredible time reminiscing through his late father’s eyes as he tries to unravel his travels after developing some old slides that he found.
I was captivated and mesmerized by his photos. They are from the 1960s, and while some images may look the same today, some definitely do not. The Tajmahal photo, for example, does not look like this these days. Well, the Tajmahal might look the same, but the crowds certainly don’t!
Take a read and check out what travel looked like while overlanding 6 decades ago!
Travellers in the 60s were a crazy bunch and I’m pretty sure my dad was one of the craziest, travelling from Wellington to London by van.
Spotlight Stories
Annie Kocher introduces herself to us fellow Globetrotters.
Have you written your spotlight story yet? JoAnn has written an article to get you started.
A-Z Travel Story Challenge
There were no submissions in our A-Z challenge this week. If you want to share your favorite travel destinations from every letter in the alphabet, please do!
Now, let us move on to the amazing articles from around the world:
Asia
Kanak Agrawal writes about being inspired to travel after watching the movie Into The Wild. It’s interesting to note that while things could have gone very wrong, it sounds like they turned out just right.

Don Stouder shows us the stunning beauty of the Colorado River. A rock waterfall? Who knew?
Audrey Stimson clearly needed this visit to Los Angeles at this moment in time.

Jay Davidson attempts to answer the age-old question. What exactly is our purpose on this planet? Are we here to do, or just here to be? You decide.
Ryan Frawley explains why it is important to step outside your comfort zone to see something different. I think most of us travelers will agree.
