Authors, you can help us help you
This is a dynamic document, and it needs to be up to date so that readers can find your most recent work without having to scroll through everyone else’s — and maybe get sidetracked by some flashy headline or garish image along the way.
When you publish your first chapter, there will be more to come. Of course.
If you could publish an article which will become your book “Table of Contents”, giving some author information, a blurb about the book, and most importantly a list of chapters in order, that is something that we can link to instead of just the first chapter.
It will be information you control, a source of reads and comments and claps, and something for you to link to from your blog, your social media, your business card…
It doesn’t need to be much. Your book title can be the article title, followed by a cover image, some publicity blurb text about the book, and then simply a list of links to the chapters published here. Medium will automatically format them as clickable boxes, so (for example) if Karen Madej’s first chapter of her book Two Little Girls has the URL of “https://readmedium.com/chapter-1-sarah-78ecd520f4de”, then I just copy the link and place it in the text and Medium turns it into this:
List the chapters as URLs, and each time you publish a new chapter, add it to the list until you have every chapter listed as a “Table of Contents” for that book.
Make sure that we editors have the link to this Table of Contents article so that we can in turn add it to this article.
As an example, here is the Table of Contents to my definitive listing of the best jokes in the universe:
