BOOK CHAPTERS REVIEW
Can I Dare To Review The Star Reviewer Karen Madej?
A critical appreciation of the book chapters of Karen Madej
Can anyone dare to review this star reviewer? Karen Madej writes her weekly wisdom in all the Illumination Publications. Every week we see the editor’s pick and most of them being curated.
Well, I just quite by accident saw chapter 9 with a beautiful image of Audrey Hepburn. This is an actress I like since my young days so I thought let me read this. What did I see? This was Chapter 9 and the owner of the book was Karen Madej.
The name of this chapter was very interesting. It was 14-Year-Old Sarah Learns to Inhale Like Holly Golightly. As you can understand this was the story of a 14-year-old girl and her job as a waitress. Here her experiences have been described. She used to pick up the leftover cigarette packet of the customer and —
In the words of the author because it was described so well that I would not be able to capture better than she does so I would like you to read the following paragraph.
“one fine day she copied holding the cigarette like Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She tried flicking the ash into the ashtray and missed, so then she practised tapping the ash into the tiny tray. This worked. The fourteen-year-old studied the way she inhaled. Puckered her lips in the most alluring way and practised over and over until someone called up the stairs for her to get back to work”.
Having read this chapter and found it so interesting now I thought that I had missed reading the earlier ones. So now what to do?
I began reading from Chapter 1.which was on introducing the characters and about Two Little Girls. Chapter two is the family life of Sarah and her younger sister. Their mother leaves them and their father who never learned to cook brings them up. The children are devastated but there was little they could do about it.
Frances was the mother and Miles the father. Frances wanted to have fun and move out of the humdrum of family life. It was a beautiful romance earlier but now it had turned sour and although she wanted to take the girls with her, she did not because she had no place to stay in and was quite unsettled.
In Chapter 4 Karen introduces a new character. Who is she and why does she come to stay with them? I am sure you will be intrigued to know. I will however tell you that she is Polish and comes to look after the young girls and thus enters their life.
Chapter 5 Karen introduces another character by the name of Barbara who is Teressa’s friend. There is new information here so read on to see what happens between Miles and Teressa and how their relationship continues.
Life continues for Sarah and she is now 8 years old. The family moves home but Sarah has no recollection of it. The family moved to Marlborough Road to a new house. Here Mile and Teressa get married and the girls are happy with their stepmother. Sarah is now growing up and going to school and she is troubled by the boys on the way. These experiences have been cited.
So without giving any more details I would like to give a thumbs up to this book and I am waiting to read the next chapter. The wisdom of Karen Madej continues to shine. Just like her weekly columns, the book is gripping and you will huger for reading more and hoping that she quickly completes her story but she is clever and mysterious and until the full plot develops will not let you go.
This is a lady who will entice you, get you to read her book, and make you ask for more. I invite all the readers to give it a try. She has already told you that it is a book about two little girls and so far the main character is Sarah. Lets us see the direction the book takes us to.
Thank you Dr Mehmet Yildiz for having given me the opportunity to be an editor in Illumination Book Chapters.
While many authors have already written a lot of chapters and each one has presented their book beautifully today I dared to write about Karen Madej as I read the book and am able to comment on it.
I have read Dr Mehmet Yildiz's excellent books and I am sharing the link with you to read them too.
