There is always a question that “How Much Can Your Life Change In A Year?”

I would say, pretty much everything and you have the power to make it happen.

To be honest, a year ago, I would’ve never imagined being here and writing this story. I am sitting at my desk and typing — entire 2021 year is passing through my eyes.

“Though nobody can go back and make a new beginning… Anyone can start over and make a new ending.” — Chico Xavier

How Can You Change Your Life In One Year ?

A year ago, I was trying to change my job to get a better workplace to utilize all of my talents and expertise, also to widen my horizon. Honestly I wanted more.

It was not an easy ride to find my ideal job that can work better in a long term and also let me fulfill my creative side. You can be creative at your workplace too.

Second, I felt mentally, emotionally exhausted, and received obnoxious comments from people around me. Somewhere I was seeking their validation and approvals.

You know, sometimes you really want to turn your life around no matter what and are willing to work towards it. It doesn’t matter what it requires, but if you never try, you’ll never know.

Each month since a year has been a journey of growth that has helped me come out of a shell.

With all the hustling in between, climbing all the mountain, and something magical blossomed.

“In my life, I’ve lived, I’ve loved, I’ve lost, I’ve missed, I’ve hurt, I’ve trusted, I’ve made mistakes, but most of all, I’ve learned.”

Self- awareness:

This year I worked inwards.

All this time, I was looking for external stimulation and external things to make me happy. But what I found is that happiness and the sense of contentment lies within ourselves. Once we know that, no matter how big outer hurdle is, you will be able to conquer it at any cost.

What I learned — Your mindset and strong beliefs can take you places, and hold you during the tough times too.

Eliminating toxic people out of my life:

Honestly if you ask me what type of person I am- everyone would say, I am subvariant, putting other people’s needs before me.

Though there is nothing wrong being like this but it left me exhausted, helpless. And I kind of become self-critical because when I needed help, or suggestions — I barely had people in my life to ask. All the people I thought were my friends, family kind of left me on a thin string.

And most times, I let other people use me and I went to great lengths to help them.

But this year I started putting boundaries, either at work or in my personal life to say NO to things that don’t benefit me in any way.

Trusting my guts and intuition more:

You know you always have a devil in your head. and maybe you have it too.

Do you ever feel what if this goes wrong or what will people think? What if I fail? What if I lose everything? And many more what ifs?

Those are imaginary scenarios that haven’t even happened, but they pierce us. When I included personal experiences in my articles, I felt this more often than ever.

I come from a conservative culture where a lot of things are looked down upon, even dating! However I shared my experiences because I was done caring about what others will think and sabotaging my journey.

I wanted to work on my mindset and beliefs. I read about growth mindsets, and about how I can ruthlessly believe in myself. I tested the strategies from these books and self-help articles told me to follow.

After that, my energy changed. And with that, the energy I emitted and attracted changed too.

Learned the ultimate truth about Life:

When I am surrounded with similar mind-like people, I am able to connect with my deep self more authentically and without being overly self-critical.

I am a person who procrastinates whenever anything goes wrong and over analyzes everything.

As I have started reflecting back on this year I realized — I have developed empathy, resilience, and connected with my emotional state way better than before.

It also helped me to connect and understand other people around me better.

Lastly,

You strive to be your best, no matter what the task is or who may or may not be watching. You care about yourself, your health, and your body, and you care about those around you.

You seek to be proud of how you behave more than worrying about how you are perceived. People will remember when you live from your heart.

Your heart is the best friend you’ll ever have.

Believing in yourself is a game-changer and is why extremely successful people are so confident and driven because they believe they can.

So what’s next,

Well- I am still navigating path to find purpose of my life and learning how can I help people around me with my experiences — good or bad.
