Are You Losing Value With Age?

I feel more worthy with time.

I am celebrating my birthday this month.

Happy Birthday To ME — One Year Older, One Year Wiser

I feel nostalgic at this time of year. Scared, even. I know that sounds silly, but another year of my life is over. Did I do enough? Am I moving in the right direction? I always felt this way — even in my teen years.

I usually don’t like to celebrate my birthday and hardly care about it. However this year I am going to celebrate not only because it’s my birthday. It’s because I value myself more with age and the hard work I put up for all these years for becoming the person I am today. I owe myself that much.

I do not have a price tag or an expiration date on me, if is there any my price has only gone up over time. Age brings experience, wisdom, and not caring about the petty things. As I grow old, I feel a sense of contentment I never felt before.

Honestly I value so much more as I am getting older than I did when I was emotionally and financially insecure, plus chock full of untreated mental health issues in my twenties. The girl who was timid, didn’t know the value of self love, self care and not voicing out what she actually want and need.

People used to say, I am too passionate and ambitious — as if it’s wrong. And I felt guilty and embarrassed being like this. Most of the time, I downplayed myself just to fit in.

I am still in work in progress but as I grow in my life I believe celebrating your tiny achievements and values your oneself is important too.

Wisdom comes with age’ is not just an aphorism. Life experience is one of our greatest teachers. As we move through life, we accumulate wisdom about who we are, what’s really important, and how we can live productively and happily.

As I step into new year, I learned a few lessons with time and if you think the same, it means that you are making most of your life too.

Accepting you are work in progress

In my 20s, I always felt the need to be perfect- perfect all the time. But at this time, I acknowledge and accepted the fact that I am in work in progress and I always going to be. The key is to keep moving and do better than yesterday. I know for the fact, I am not done growing.

“The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which means never losing your enthusiasm.” — Aldous Huxley

Understanding you are a work in progress means you don’t find yourself saying, “That’s just the way I am, and there’s nothing I can do about it.”

Anyone can change and grow as long as they are intentional about it.

If you believe you are a work in progress, you will seek out ways to grow and improve. And, if you want to grow, you must work to understand any blockages or wounds in your past. Healing them is an essential step toward change and transformation.

“See reality as it is, not as you want it to be.”

I pay attention to my inner self/world more

When you do pay attention and manage your inner world, you can make better choices. You’re more resilient and can recover from difficulties more quickly. You can better manage your outside world.

“If you get the inside right, the outside will fall into place.” — Ekhart Tolle

You make smarter life and business decisions. You respect differences, honor dissenting points of view, listen with empathy, and seek to be of service.

When you pay attention to your inner world, you “learn to be in the moment,”

I start putting my heart in anything I do

Bringing your heart with you means putting your full self into everything you do. You strive to be your best, no matter what the task is or who may or may not be watching.

You care about yourself, your health, and your body, and you care about those around you.

You seek to be proud of how you behave more than worrying about how you are perceived. People will remember when you live from your heart.

Your heart is the best friend you’ll ever have.

Believing in yourself is a game-changer and is why extremely successful people are so confident and driven because they believe they can.

So what’s next, well- I am still navigating path to find purpose of my life and learning how can I help people around me with my experiences — good or bad.

Until next time.
