Where Shall We Walk Today?
Don’t underestimate the power of a walk!
I did 95 miles walk last month(31 days) without realizing it until my fitness watch sent a notification on my monthly fitness data.
On average, I walked for around 3 miles per day. Most of the days I do a slow walk or include light running in between. I am not a runner but trying to run more in my day.
If you are not familiar with my journey, I started adding walking in my fitness routine last year in May 2020. Since then this is one of the exercise routines stuck with me.
The movement makes me feel more comfortable in my body. The light, even on a cloudy day, gives me joy.
A few months back, I wrote this story on my walking journey. If you like to know how it impacted me as a person and my overall mindset, check out this story.
This is one of the activities I can do almost every day, with little to no preparation, and can do any time in the day. Well- may be this is why I am loving my little walking routine.
Since then a lot has changed and of course me. And now I have become more ambitious, controlled in my actions, and developed a lot of compassion with my fitness routine.
A brisk walk a day helps keep weight gain away.
It helps me to think, clear my mind from any stress or to do a self-reflection on certain things, or just want to walk alone listening to my music or a podcast.
My top 3 reasons to walk even on the snow-filled road.
1- Love being out
As in this pandemic, we are staying in our home more than usual and with little to no social activities, walking seems bliss in this situation. Fresh air can definitely make you feel more alive and your mind can become freer than at home.
When people say they are feeling down, my first suggestion is to go for a walk.

2- Give more clarity and perception on things
When you are at home, you might be seeing the clothes waiting for laundry, or dishes that you might forget to put in the dishwasher or you may not be able to complete your work before the deadline or maybe your living room need some tidiness.
Walking let me free from all the worries I have at home. I deliberately try not to think all day to day life hustle. Instead, I focus on big goals or any important thing I need to do. I create a mindset and collect all my energy and consciousness to focus and achieve that goal. Refresh mentally.
It may sound silly, but try and it can make you more productive, focused on certain things that hold more value to you.
Fresh air revives me. The trees make me feel more alive.
3- More focused on my job and work
My daily walk helped me with my attention span. We live in 10s tik-tok videos or instant reels world, where everything needs to be fast and you tend to lose focus on tasks when it requires long working hours or need your absolute attention.
All truly great thoughts are conceived by walking
~Friedrich Nietzsche
Walking made me connect more with myself and my quality of work increased significantly.
If you want to start your fitness journey, I would highly recommend starting with walking. You don’t need any special gear or equipment, to begin with.
While walking you can add a podcast, an audiobook, your favorite music playlist in your phone to listen to.
Remember, you are doing this for yourself. Walking is fun and best of all it’s free and doesn’t require much effort to do. Let me know what are the places you like to take a walk.
Go listen to the birds sing. Go feel the wind on your face. Go smile in the sunshine.
A walk makes everything better.
Let’s walk!
