My personal message in saying thank you to some exceptional editors on medium

It’s time for me to say thank you to some amazing editors on medium who have helped me along this journey of becoming a better version of myself as a writer.

Getting Started on Medium

When I joined Medium in July of 2023, I didn’t take my abilities to write seriously. I published one school related article entitled Five Classroom Management Strategies that Work.”

It helped me connect to fellow educator and Canadian Tim Cavey because he allowed me to publish it in his wonderful publication Teachers On Fire. 🔥

He inspired me by giving me the guidance in what topics to write when I needed to get started with educational writing on medium. We connected further after I published my article entitled “What’s Wrong With Friday the 13th”, because as it turns out we share the same birthday — October 13th!

So Tim, I just wanted to say, I appreciate you for all your help and support in getting me started with articles on medium.

Growing on Medium

As I began to learn more about medium and how to grow, I learned the importance of diversifying choices of publications.

I was looking for an inspiring publication similar to the ideas I started in 2020 — my own website Edukitchen where I wanted inspire others by showing how to connect life skills we can learn in the kitchen to the ones we learn in education.

That’s when I came across the publication Educreate 💡. It started with “edu” and so I thought this is where I can share other topics in education in a creative and inspiring way like I hope to do with my websites EduKitchen and now The ETI Academy where ETI stands for Education Through Inspiration!

How was it possible for me to grow on medium you may ask?

And now people, we come to two exceptional editors that have made me believe in my writing abilities and help me to grow faster than I could have ever imagined on medium.

I emailed one editor of the Educreate publication, Lance Cummings PhD to ask if I could join this publication. And after a couple of days anxiously waiting, he replied — you’re in!

So I began submitting articles one after the other as I was full of anticipation and excitement as to what this new journey may bring.

And that’s how I began to see growth and boosted articles!

The first two articles that were boosted were:

Lance recently published an article on medium detailing his experience with boosting articles and I recommend you save it as it is a very worthwhile read.

Lance taught me to self reflect my ideas by making them personal as he would also remind me to start articles with a personal story connected to the topic.

Lance would also mention to me that he thought this article would get boosted, and would wish me good luck which I always appreciated!

And so I want to say thank you Lance for encouraging me to self reflect on the stories I wish to share, helping to get my first two articles boosted, and I really do appreciate you through all your support in my writing journey on medium.

A One of Kind Editor on Medium

When I published my first article in Educreate I learned about personal notes.

That’s how I met Alex Baidun. He was kind enough to point out my use of images, as I was still ignorant of the writing rules on medium.

“You need to reference your images” he would always remind me! 😇

Alex is the kind of editor a writer dreams of. He is quick to respond, offer encourgement throughs his claps, responds to points made in your article, and adds them to his reading list.

In my view, he is the coach in the corner motivating players to succeed. His publications of my articles makes me feel like the Messi of football, or the Mohammad Ali of boxing, or..well, you get the idea!

Through Alex’s support I feel like I’ve come to appreciate a new freedom in writing and hopefully inspiring others.

And so for this I want to say to Alex that I appreciate you for all the times you’ve published my articles.

Getting out of my Comfort Zone on Medium

With my followers growing on medium, I was excited to join even more diverse publications that connected to education — namely mental health.

As I add experience to my teaching career, I find that acknowledging negative emotions as part mental health in education has come to the forefront in today’s classroom.

In dealing with emotions, one can challenge themselves to get out of their comfort zone.

In looking for publications around mental health, I came across two significant publications I wanted to join: Illumination and All’s Well.

With All’s Well, I met the enchanting Hermione Wilds Writes who helped me perfect my personal “getting out of my comfort zone” story on committing to the hijab.

She asked me if she could draw my opening image rather than the typical stock photo. I agreed and am so happy with how she represented me in hijab.

So to Hermione I wanted to say I appreciate you for your beauty in art and thank you for accepting me into your publication.

The Illumination of Medium

In joining the illumination publication, I met an amazing editor by the name of Ali Alzahrani, M.Sc., Editor who was actually helping me to grow along the way through dialogue concerning my writings on other publications.

He would comment on my articles and through his comments, I realized that this is an amazing opportunity to connect with other writers on medium.

At first I was intimiated by the scope of the Illumination publication. However, in submitting to the Illumination-Mirror publication, Ali helped me to edit and publish my first story in this well established and known publication.

And so I want to say to Ali, I appreciate you and all the support you offered me through commenting and in my writings!

A Final Thank You…

Getting my articles boosted has brought me immense joy, and to be honest a little nerves as well since I feel I need to continually be at my best.

But I’m up for the task, I may take it slower than before, but I am eternally gratefully I started my journey and connecting with some exceptional editors here on medium.

So to all of you editors mentioned in this article I thank you all once again. ❤️

My world on medium is a better place for connecting with these amazing individuals, and I will continue to use their advice in paying it forward in sharing what I hope is good advice when it comes to education and mental health.

And to you the reader, thank you for taking the time to read this article and am looking forward to getting even more inspired by other writers and editors on medium.
