An AI artist regularly incorporates artificial intelligence and machine learning in their creative process. AI can range from integrating ML creatures into the creation process to integrating a real-time device into an interactive installation. Social media is used as a space, data as air, and machine learning as a chisel. This article will provide you with helpful insights into how AI can enhance artistic practice and what you need to know before working alongside artificial intelligence.

My work started with gambling, that is, primitive slot machines. My first love was the emotional relationship between the player and the mechanically programmed random algorithm. Man, despite his intelligence, succumbs to the illusion created by the “blinking box.” The first poetry machine was made in 1992. Each subsequent job was related to the “power” of the automaton over man. Social media algorithms, virtual games. In 2016, I started using reinforcement learning, GANs, and in 2019, GPT3. Working with Open.ai and participating in the beta versions of GPT3 and Codex brought me closer to creating an autonomous AI artist.
ML does not solve all our problems. Instead, it is a tool for us to perform our craftsmanship. There are several ways we can incorporate AI into our process, and I will discuss the main ones here:
We can use Machine Learning to detect patterns in data, which helps us improve our work through recommendations and the incorporation of AI-generated content.
We can use Machine Learning or Deep Learning to generate content based on pre-defined parameters. For example, these parameters can create a painting, article, music, or video. The output is not based on any human input whatsoever, and the only goal is to generate working content.
We can use AI as a tool in our creative process. For example, we can use Machine Learning and Deep Learning to improve the aesthetic experience of working with data. In addition, we can use ML-generated textures or sounds as part of our production method.
