3 Ways Your Life’s Purpose Is Revealed

You don’t just play a guessing game

(Photo: Rosy)

1. Your Gifts and Abilities

You don’t call someone holding a stethoscope a carpenter, and you don’t call someone holding nails a fisherman. People are called by what they are gifted at. They are called according to their abilities.

You can identify your purpose through your abilities. Your abilities are a secret code to help you know your place of purpose. They are pointers to your purpose.

Your abilities reveal your potential and your spiritual gifts. Your spiritual gifts are not your natural talents or skills. It’s an ability that is beyond you. The spiritual gift is a special capability that God gives to each of his people. We are given this gift to build humanity up and to strengthen the people.

Upon discovering your gifts, you may feel that it comes naturally to you. You do it as naturally as taking your next breath. Your gifts and abilities are both pointers to your purpose and can guide you in the right direction.

2. Your Passion and Pain

Your passion shows you your strengths, and your pain is never wasted. In your most dominant pain lies your greatest opportunity to be a savior. Your greatest pain serves as a guide to where and how you can make a significant difference in this world.

A requirement of being a savior is that systems will be set up around your life through which you will pass to connect to the person you will be saving and the situations you will be delivering them from. You cannot truly help someone if you haven’t helped yourself. In order to pull anyone from the darkness, you must first be able to guide yourself through the darkness.

The passion and the pain you feel reveal your purpose. If you aren’t passionate about it, it’s not your purpose.

Imagine an orphan who grew up with no one to look up to and starts an orphanage where he adopts other orphans and serves as their mentor or parent. A person like this will have a certain passion at work because of the pain he or she went through as an orphan. That passion is rooted in a history of pain.

Some things you go through so others won’t have to go through them or get help while they go through them.

You don’t emerge from your seasons of pain with a purpose alone. You come out with an anointing to help others facing the same problems. It may not always be obvious but when you look well, there is an anointing, and it is through this anointing that you are able to help others.

Passion and pain are requisites to your purpose. A person who has a true understanding of pain considers it a gift.

3. By Divine Ordination

Not everyone is able to discover special abilities and gifts that would qualify them for a particular purpose. Not everyone is passionate or has experienced pain in their lives. God sometimes calls the least qualified people and divinely ordains them for certain missions.

It may seem that you do not have the qualifications for the purpose for which God is calling you, but look at these examples from Scripture: Noah was a drunk. Abraham was too old. Moses was unable to speak fluently. Jacob was a liar. Gideon was afraid. Elijah was depressed and suicidal. Jonah fled from God. David was an adulterer and murderer. Rahab was a prostitute. Paul was a Christian killer. And me? I had a child out of wedlock. I was cheated on and made a fool out of. However, God chooses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise.

Truly, you dont have to be qualified for your purpose. You are qualified for the work God calls you to do by the presence of the Holy Spirit within you.

Divine ordination defines your purpose when God himself calls and chooses you.
