Empaths and Sensitivity

1. You Are Clothed In Power

Society may have made you feel like your sensitivity is a problem and that’s far from the truth. I’m a Pisces and I grew up highly sensitive. Although it felt like I was cursed to feel things so deeply; I grew up to realize my sensitivity was a superpower.

It was overwhelming that I cared and loved so much and that certain things consumed me, but I grew up to know that my sensitivity is what makes me special. It's what makes me, me.

Highly Sensitive People (HSP) or empaths are very sensitive and in touch with the energies in and around them. They can tell if something is bothering someone or if they are hiding something. Empaths are very aware of themselves and the universe as a whole. They are so intuitive that they can become a sponge and pick up on the energies, thoughts, and feelings of others and situations. This was overwhelming for me because there was always something on my mind that was bugging me.

Empaths are sensitive to words. I never knew how long what someone said would stick with me and how it’d hurt me. I felt odd. I felt different, almost like something was wrong. I felt as if life was hard because I was so sensitive. It wasn’t until I grew up that I realized I was perfect, just the way I chose to be. Life was hard sometimes, but I made life easier for many people because I was sensitive to their feelings.

Sensitive and fragile aren’t synonyms, even though I always had to shield and protect myself from people, places, and things. I had to do that to protect my energy.

Relationships as a highly sensitive person were especially painful because I felt everything — good and bad — so deeply. When a relationship ended, the other person would move on quickly and I’d spend years trying to move on. I observed people who were less sensitive go about their life with no care in the world and I couldn’t understand why I was the way I was.

My emotions overwhelmed me, but I grew up and realized that there was nothing wrong with me. I wasn’t cursed. I thought I didn’t want to be sensitive anymore, but my sensitivity wasn’t the problem. Insensitivity in the world was the problem.

In a world where everybody is afraid to feel; where people pretend they don’t feel things just so they don’t feel pain, your sensitivity is a God-given gift. I started giving thanks for mine.

If my sensitivity was taken away from me, I wouldn't be who I am. If I lost my sensitivity, my essence, my uniqueness, my personality, and my ability to heal would also be taken away.

Your sensitivity makes you powerful. It’s what makes you stand out. Remind yourself every time you feel overwhelmed by your emotions that your sensitivity is your superpower.

In a world where everybody is afraid to feel; where people pretend they don’t feel things just so they don’t feel pain, your sensitivity is a God-given gift.

2. You Are Clothed in Strength

Your sensitivity isn't a weakness. I used to think I was weak. If I wasn’t weak, then I would have gotten up and moved on when the other person had already moved on. If I wasn’t weak, then the things people did and said wouldn’t hurt me as much as they did. I wouldn’t absorb and carry other people's thoughts and emotions as if they were mine.

I was wrong and I see it now. My sensitivity is my strength. I’m an empath. I'm highly sensitive and I’m clothed in strength.

If you feel things deeply, there’s nothing weak inside you. You have the power to feel what someone is going through. That's strength. You can sympathize and empathize with anyone. You love to help and care for others, and that's your greatest strength.

We live in a world where people try their hardest not to feel anything. Your power to feel and feel deeply is true strength. Many people are closed off. Some are afraid to love. Others don’t care at all. Many fear they will fall in love and get hurt, so they build walls around themselves. They push away anyone who tries to enter, but you open your heart out to anyone. That takes strength.

I almost allowed people to make me feel weak for being sensitive. I allowed them to make me feel small for feeling. Some walked away because they couldn’t handle how deep I was.

Don’t allow the world to make you feel small for feeling. Your energy in motion runs as wide as the ocean. Your heart is as big as the sky. You are connected to everything and everyone, and your love is sufficient for the entire universe.

Don’t let anyone make you feel as if something is wrong with you. You are strong. It is through your sensitivity that spirit flows through you.

Your sensitivity isn’t a curse, and it definitely isn’t a weakness. Your sensitivity is your greatest gift. It’s your greatest blessing, strength, and power.

3. You Are Spirit in Human Form

This is not a mistake. You are not a mistake. Your ability to sense and feel things isn’t a mistake. Your intuitive mind isn’t a problem.

You were born this way because this is how you will better fulfill your mission. You are a spiritual being, having a human experience.

Sensitive is how you need to be and you don’t need to change a single thing. You don’t need to grow tough skin. You don’t need to pretend you don’t care. You don’t need to be afraid to show your emotions. You don’t need to be afraid of your feelings. You don’t need to be scared of love. You don't need to be insensitive to be cool.

You are perfect just the way you are. You are already tough. You are spirit in human form. You are already cool. You are a gift to the world and you have to feel that. Without your sensitivity, humanity would be missing out. Your sensitivity is what makes you so special. It’s what makes you so loved not only by people but also by animals. They can sense your gentleness and you can feel their pain. Babies love you because they can see your pure aura. What else is better?

You think about other people and you will do anything to be there for a friend in need. You put other people’s needs before your own and that’s a beautiful thing.

You are creative because you are in touch with your heart and soul and you’re able to tune into your intuition and feel your way to creating beautiful art that inspires the world.

You must change the way you see your sensitivity and cultivate a better relationship with yourself. You must learn to change the way you see yourself. You must learn to love all of who you are and see your sensitivity as a gift.

You must learn ways to protect yourself and your energy from those who come to steal and take from you without replenishing. You must stay away from those who make you feel cursed or weak. You must be mentally, emotionally, and spiritually strong.

You must learn to recharge and replenish your energy. It’s okay if you want to take some time away from others to be with yourself. It’s okay to honor your feelings and set up healthy boundaries. It’s okay to put yourself first by saying no!

You’ve been working your whole life taking care of everyone else and you end up forgetting to take care of yourself. Don’t forget to take care of yourself because you’re powerful beyond measure and humanity needs you more than you're aware.

Your sensitivity isn’t a curse, and it definitely isn’t a weakness. It’s your greatest blessing, strength, and power. Humanity needs you to be exactly who you came here to be.
