Self-Transformation
5 Spiritual Practices and Tools to Help You On Your Journey
A strong intention is needed for these to work

1. Intention
Your intention is crucial in any type of inner healing or self-transformation work. It is one of the powerful things you can use to support your journey. The intention you put out into the universe is going to decide whether your healing occurs or not. When you intend to do something, especially when you say it out loud or you write it, it reinforces the energy of the intention.
You must set a strong intention for the things you intend to heal, transform, achieve or attract. Whatever you focus on, you bring energy to it and it grows. To set powerful intentions, you must be in your power. The more you are in your power, the more powerful your intentions will be and the faster they will manifest. To be in your power, you must be strong in your solar plexus chakra.
2. Breathwork
This has been extremely transformative on my spiritual journey and you are probably wondering, “Don’t we all breathe already?” The answer is no; we don’t breathe deep enough into our lungs. I didn’t. We’ve been breathing our whole lives, and you’d think we would have mastered it by now, but most of us aren’t breathing properly. And by that, I mean deep breaths and powerful exhales.
Deep breathing is crucial to connect with your body, especially those of us who disconnected from our bodies because of trauma and being too sensitive. When you start to take really deep breaths and you do it often, you immediately come out of your mind and into your body. It also helps unlock trauma and unblock the chakras to get the energy flowing.
I normally just go on YouTube and search for videos on breathwork and I follow along or you can totally do it on your own. Throughout the day and when times are stressful, I remind myself to take deep breaths.

3. Smudging
I use a lot of smoke in my spiritual journey because it is one of the most effective energy purifiers there is. I love to use sage to remove dense energies after a long draining day or in the house when I feel dense energy hovering around me.
Because sage removes all types of energy — good and bad — I sometimes burn Palo Santo afterward when I need positive energy. I love Palo Santo because it smells amazing, and it isn't as overwhelming as sage. I also use incense sticks or cones like myrrh, frankincense, and other herbs to cleanse my energy system and to get my apartment feeling lighter.
I light up whatever I'm using and move it around me in all directions as I invoke my guides and ask for any energies that don't belong to me or serve me to be removed or purified. I do it a few times around my body and from head to toe. A strong intention is needed for this to work. When it's infused with your intentions, it becomes a powerful way to cleanse your energy.
The intention you put out into the universe is going to decide whether your transformation occurs or whether it doesn’t.
4. Crystals
Crystals are the most beautiful things. I love them so much. They are one of my favorite things. I love all types of rocks and have them all over my apartment for company. I also wear them around my neck, and on my hands, and I even put them in my pocket. I enjoy the energies they emit.
When I started my spiritual awakening and was still figuring things out, I wasn't in my power and I used crystals as my protectors. As an empath, because energies were always too harsh for me, I had to have some type of crystals on me to feel okay. It worked because that's the intention I put into it. To protect me.
But as I started to develop my solar plexus chakra, I came into my power and realized who I was. I no longer needed crystals to protect me. I needed them less and less.
It's not that I no longer need my crystals, I still keep them around because they are beautiful but I use them differently. I use them as companions. The energies crystals emit are soothing and calming. I use them as compliments to my power — as accessories, and not as the source of my power.
5. Gratitude
Gratitude is a magnet for miracles indeed, and these miracles come in more powerfully when you can be thankful in the current moment, no matter how imperfect life is or chaotic your spiritual awakening feels. When you’re grateful, you’re better able to handle the stress that comes, especially in the dark stages of the spiritual journey.
Being grateful can make you happier when life sucks. It really can. It makes you content with the wonderful things you already have going for you. It anchors you in the present moment instead of fighting and chasing the next big thing.
When you have a grateful heart, you are in an abundant mindset and are, therefore, better able to attract miracles and opportunities to you.

Closing Thoughts
Remember that these practices and tools are to be used as compliments. They themselves do not have any power. The power is within you. You are the one to give them power. If you aren’t in your power, they also become powerless. These tools can’t heal you, the same way your spiritual coach cannot heal you. They can guide and help you see the power in you so you can heal yourself.
As a writer and coach, my job is to help you put the power back into you to where you awaken to your own inner power. That’s where transformation starts. You must know your inner power, understand it, and be in your power. The more you are in your power, the more powerful these practices and tools are going to be.
