3 Harsh Truths About Pain and Healing It
You may not have caused your pain, but it’s in your hands

1. This is Your Lesson
Life can be sweet but it isn’t always cupcakes with sprinkles. Life is painful.
Painful things happen that break us. Certain things change us and we’re just never the same. We lose someone we loved, and the glass is shattered. We get fired from a job we depended on and we’re lost. We get into a devastating car crash that takes a major toll on our finances.
Life can be brutal.
These things happen and sometimes take us further away from our true selves. The once happy and bright girl gets cold and distant. The boy who had a lot to look forward to gets heartbroken and swears never to open the door.
We try to shield ourselves from life, and we only end up missing out on life.
Life hurts so badly.
It’s easier dealing with the hurt feelings when there’s someone or something to blame. It’s a little easier to cope with those intense feelings because we’re redirecting instead of really feeling it. It feels a little better when we point a finger.
Emotional pain is difficult no matter what form it takes. Your pain is valid and you must give yourself time to feel everything. The things you refuse to feel only end up controlling you unconsciously.
You can’t allow your pain to control you forever.
If you’re hurting every day over things that happened in the past and you’re trying to get the world to feel your pain, you must get out of that mentality because the world can’t do much to help you. Your pain is yours. Your pain becomes a part of you until it’s time for it to leave.
Pain is an unpleasant teacher.
What the person did was a terrible thing, but it’s up to you to learn something from it. When you learn, it changes your perspective. It’s up to you now to start feeling differently.
You can’t risk living and getting stuck in the past. You must work to transcend your pain. You must learn to rise above it, look down on it, and observe it from all angles. You’ll find the lessons. Acknowledge the role you played. Placing blame and projecting your fears onto the outside world will not take the pain away. It only delays your healing process.
Pain is too heavy to carry, but it’s filled with great lessons that can transform your life around and take you in the direction of your purpose.
2. It’s in Your Hands
You hold your pain in your hands and you can let go of it once you look at it for what it came to show you. If you coddle your pain without looking at it from an outside perspective, it remains in your hands.
You can decide to let go.
When you start thinking about someone else or what they did to you, you are directing your energy to that person, and at that point; you made that choice. You made the choice to give your power away.
Your power is yours to keep.
This is your journey, and wherever you are, it’s your responsibility to get out of there if you’re not happy. Call your power back. It’s yours. Sometimes it requires taking a good look in the mirror to see where you went wrong. It requires being an adult and deciding to make life better. Sometimes you have to admit the parts you played.
Pain is too heavy to carry, but it’s filled with great lessons that can transform your life around and take you in the direction of your purpose.
You have a purpose to fulfill, but you won’t see it until you take a look in the mirror and see all aspects of yourself, even those you don’t want to see. Your purpose won’t be clear when there are things occupying your mental body that’s preventing you from seeing the way with clarity.
You can’t change the past no matter what, but you can take your future into your hands and start creating what it is you’d like to experience more of. You’re the main character in your story and the world plays no part in that story.
Your healing is in your hands.
You have a purpose to fulfill, but you won’t see it until you take a look in the mirror and see all aspects of yourself, even those you don’t want to see.
3. You Pain Grows You
What happened has happened and there’s nothing you can do to change it. You can’t go back to your past to prevent things from happening the way they did, but you can change your perception to see a brighter future.
You can choose to see how the things that happened can help you grow.
There is a beautiful opportunity for new awareness and consciousness in your pain. There is something beautiful and magnificent that lies ahead of your pain, and it’s going to be different, but in perfect alignment with your higher self.
Listen to your soul.
You must find ways to take care of your mental health and address your emotional state. The biggest thing you can do for yourself is knowing, healing, and loving yourself. If you want to feel the wholeness and harmony inside of you, you must first love and connect to yourself.
You have to be the source of your happiness.
You can’t go outside of yourself because happiness isn’t there. Happiness isn’t outside of you, you are happy when you finally say you’re done with the past. When you’re done with the past, pain can’t stay any longer.
I know how difficult it is to deal with pain and things from the past. It’s going to be hard, and it’s going to require a lot of commitment and discipline, but you’re going to have to choose it.
It’s not going to be easy. It’s going to take time, but it’s something you must do so you can step boldly into your purpose and fulfill it.
