15 Editors Who Can Nominate Your Stories for a Boost

My advice: write memorable stories

Boosting is really a good way of getting noticed by new readers. Your tribe knows you. They will stay loyal and read you. But how to get into new terrain? How to find new people that might like your work?

The first thing I do is read others. And interact with ALL.

The second thing is to go to places where you normally wouldn’t go. Expand your box. Expand your views. And find like-minded people where you wouldn’t expect them.

And the third one is boosting.

I did my research. And found 14 publications and 15 editors that can boost your stories. Have a look and see if they fit the kind of stories you write. The kind of things you have expertise in. The kind of topics you can write remarkable, memorable stories for.

Kristina God interviewed Ariel Meadow Stallings from Medium about the boosting process and she does her research. Follow her for your own research journey:

  1. The Boost Beta program can suggest a few stories every week. It helps Medium find hidden gems
  2. Medium’s internal Curation Team reviews the nominations to see if it fits with Medium’s Distribution Guidelines. They are looking for memorable stories. Personal experiences. From people with credibility. Personal or professional.
  3. The nominated story gets boosted if Medium finds it a good fit

If this happens, the nominator editor apparently receives up to $900 USD per month. So, what can we do as writers to tap into the success and the money that Medium is handing out to all of us?

First of all, take yourself seriously as a writer. And produce good, memorable words, sentences, and paragraphs. With noteworthy titles. And inspiring illustrations.

The algorithms of Medium and other social media change all the time. Research is important to keep in the loop and be impactful with your stories.

Impact = success.

1. Symbiotica

I’ve been boosted twice now in this publication. Editor Kelly Baldwin Heid approached me saying she could boost stories and wanted me for her new publications.

Thanks, Kelly! I like the fact that you are my editor!

The 2 boosted stories: 5 Wildly Surprising Nature-based City Solutions and How Green = Green Is Not Green. Think Full Spectrum Please.

These 2 stories are good earners for me now. Especially for my writing about biodiversity which is not a wildly flying topic normally. Symbiotica has a few categories. Biodiversity and the workplace, planetary health, and urban nature-based solutions.

2. Writing Cooperative

I’m a writer for the Writing Cooperative too. And editor Justin Cox writes openly about being a booster.

“So far, nine of the ten stories I nominated were boosted. I take this newfound responsibility seriously and want to promote the best of the best.” — Justin

Stop changing quantity, he says. And start creating quality. His writing can give you lots of ideas about what quality means for him and other successful writers and editors on this platform.

Let me see if I can give him some value for his editor time…

3. The Narrative Arc

Debra G. Harman, MEd. is another editor that can boost. She writes about what she’s looking for in her story “I’m Eager to Nominate Your Finest Writing for a Boost”

4. Mystic Minds

Stories with mystical qualities can be boosted by editor Kimberly Fosu. She asks spiritual writers if their stories can use a boost. This is what she’s looking for.

I bet my writer friend Rebecca Romanelli might be boosted here. Or other giants in this field. I might do stuff here too.

About intuition in the workplace. Or the huge serendipity I experience in my life combined with the knowledge that we are spinning at 1037 miles an hour through the universe with our feet glued to a rock called Earth. Hihihi…

5. Fanfare

Pop culture is a huge topic on Medium. And editor Eric Pierce is a nominator. He tells us that Fanfare is part of Medium’s boost program.

I’m not such a top writer on pop culture. But maybe my young friend Bee Wild and her mates like Note want to take a peek.

I’ll give her the tip.

6. The Generator

A new Medium publication is all about generative AI. Editor Thomas Smith tells us what he is looking to boost.

I personally love generative AI. I work in Web3 and AR. And I wrote about my own arty experiences with generative AI. So, I can tell you some stuff about it. Let’s see if I can add some goodies to the Generator publication.

7. The Memoirist

Editor Christopher Robin will boost stories written as memoirs and personal essays.

When I received the email to join the program, I pulled off the road to reply. As exciting as it is for me personally, the real benefit is to the writers. KiKi Walter and I are thrilled to be able to help our writers do the best they can. We will be working in tandem to curate/edit/nominate only the best stories” — Christopher

So, Kiki is my 15th editor in this story…

Well, memoirs I’ve written a lot since 2019. Let’s see if I can produce a few more for the Memoirist.

8. The Taoist Online

Editor Patrick Stewart from the Taoist Online tells us here what he’s looking to boost.

I’ve been a TAO-ist all my life. The book TAO for Women is on my night shelf. And I even found the hardcore math Superformula through my TAO practices. We are nature. And math is supposed to be dynamic.

Perhaps the time has come to be a writer for the Taoist Online…

9. Data Engineer Things

Xinran Waibel is the editor of this publication. Looking for career stories, interviews, project ideas, and more.

I wanna write for her some of my stories on our nature-based solutions, sea restoration, and Web3 engineering.

Let’s see if I’ll succeed…

10. UX Collective

Fabricio Teixeira is the boosting editor of UX Collective. I tell you this soooooo many times! We are designers. Everything is a design! learn to design a better world!

Here you can find out how to be a designer/writer for them.

11. AfroSapiophile

The publication is looking for intelligent black writers with memorable insights. The editor is Johnny Silvercloud.

I’m not black. My husband is. But that most probably doesn’t count. My young Berlin friend Bee Wild in my sea restoration project with Web3 is black, though. And she has hugely intelligent insights.

Her motto is Black Mums for President!

I’ll tip her.

12. The Riff

Are you writing about music? I read that The Riff and its editor Kevin Alexander can now boost stories. Go for it. Give us some memorable musical tones to read…

Fluttering in space until they evaporate in spacetime…

13. Modern Woman

One last but definitely not least is Modern Woman and her editor ADEOLA SHEEHY-ADEKALE. She writes about how she is a boost curator now.

I’m a woman! I’m a feminist pur sang. I think we need the feminine and wisdom and complexity handling back into our lives and cultures and religions and… everything…

So, this is one of my priorities now.

Become a writer for Modern Woman.

14. Wise and Well

Robert Roy Britt is the editor. He wants stories about (mental) health and well-being.

And I’m now in the process of getting a story accepted in this magazine. With my 2 years of cancer and my extensive knowledge about nature it should not be difficult to write some memorable experience stories for Wise and Well.

And You?

What’s your field of writing? What’s your quality output? Tell me in the comments. You can choose a few of the above publications to write quality stories for.

You can also do some more research and add to my story.

Tell me in the comments if you find more Medium boosters. I’ll make a new story soon, maybe more complete than this one. It seems there are 62 Medium boost curators.

This is what Tony Stubblebine writes about boosting. “Suggested by our community, confirmed by humans, delivered by robots”.

This is exactly what algorithms can do when they get checked by humans. We do it in the sea. Satellites find what we are looking for. We check by divers, boats, etc if it’s true. And then we make programs to restore the ocean to health.

Quickest way. Super cool!

Because oceans absorb 50 times more carbon than the atmosphere.

So, my curious mind has some more exploring to do…
