Could Your Story Use a Boost?

I know just the thing

This is The Thing

Medium just announced a new boost program here and here. They are teaming up with publication editors to find the best stories to nominate for a Boost. This is exciting news for every writer. And for some editors!

As the editor of Mystic Minds, I will be scouring the platform for the best spiritual stories over the next couple of months. The stories I find will be nominated to be considered for a Boost.

As long as the stories do not violate Medium’s distribution standards or site rules, these stories will receive additional distribution to readers on the website, apps, email, and topic pages.

This means many more views!

On top of the Boost, I will also feature those stories in Mystic Minds so it’s the first thing people see when they visit the publication.

This guarantees that chosen stories will receive extra views, but that’s not the best part. The best part is that your work reaches more people and you get to make a positive impact in the world!

That’s what’s most exciting!

And as we work together to improve a story, you will learn what makes a great story.

These Are The Requirements

Your story must be of exceptional quality. It must be of the highest quality compared to all the other stories you’ve written. These stories must be well-written and free of errors. To ensure this, run your work through Grammarly and Pro-Writing Aid. Study the articles Medium deems high-quality and chooses for further boosting and see what makes them great.

Ensure that your work is appropriately sourced and that your story narrative is strong. The central point of the post must be clear and compelling.

Your title is everything. It is essential that you craft an interesting, non-click-baity title, select an image that adds value to the story, and format your title and subtitle properly.

Also, your story must be constructive. It must make the reader feel that they have grown, leveled up, or reached a new level in their personal or professional lives. Readers must feel like they’ve gained a deeper understanding of the world after reading.

Ideally, they should feel they have gained something from the story, something that will assist them in doing their jobs better, give them the opportunity to learn a new skill, assist them in navigating their relationships more effectively, help them better understand current issues, reconsider past perspectives and evoke a strong emotional response they want to pass your story around.

There are going to be so many stories so your story has got to be original to stand a chance. It must explore something that is not discussed or something previously unknown.

Discuss topics that are rarely examined, reexamine something people believe they know, but may not have the whole truth, shed light on it, or look at it from a completely different angle.

And make sure you’re writing from experience. You should have first-hand experience in the field you are discussing, either as an expert or as someone who has lived through it.

You must have a clear and compelling reason for writing about the topic, and your insights must be grounded in your own experiences. That is what evokes emotion.

You must care deeply about the topic in order to communicate effectively. You might also have done thorough research on the topic to know it well enough to write about it.

And then last but not least, make it memorable. People must think about your story long after they’ve finished reading them. They must be compelled to share it with their network.

Move souls with your words and reassure people that their monthly subscriptions are well worth the money!

This is The Deal

When it comes to what’s getting a Boost, things that aren’t first-person essays probably won’t work. Articles that sound like they were written by artificial intelligence will not work either.

Boost reviewers are not looking for you to tell someone else’s story. They are not looking for general advice, self-help, or posts that are meant to market your spiritual business.

They are looking for us to tell them how we live our lives, rather than telling readers how they should live theirs. They want relevant experiences and so they are looking for first-person essays.

Read the article below to learn more about what’s getting Boosted.

That’s All For Now

This is an exciting opportunity for all of us, but take note that not all stories nominated will be eligible for Boost and that’s okay. Do not be discouraged when your story is not Boosted. Write another and another and another until one story makes it and then learn from that story and do it again!

I wish you all the best of luck and look forward to reading and editing your masterpieces.

And oh, this isn’t just for writers of Mystic Minds. Anybody at all can send me their stories. Send your story to [email protected]

If you would love to submit a story to Mystic Minds, comment, “Add me as a writer” and I will add you as soon as I see it.

Happy writing!
