SCIENCE & ESG
About Me — Desiree Driesenaar
The Future Matters

I’m a science girlie. A wild grandma in a serious business world. But I also feel in my body and soul that we are spinning with 1670 km per hour through the universe. It doesn’t make me religious though.
It makes me smile… and connected… to Gaia…
I’m a very curious person. A bit sad about the state of the world. Although I know it’ll all work out as soon as we start adapting to our planet. Resilient cities and villages. Regenerative farming and travel.
Our human systems (societies, economies) have two big problems. Linear thinking and toxic production. The accumulation of problems instead of solutions. There’s enough space in the system to grow. But then we have to work together.
Use each other’s rest streams before they become waste.
CO2 emission connected to a greenhouse full of spirulina… We design whole ports this way. Rivers meander so the toxic sediments are trapped in a corner and we can get it out to make new products with. There’s enough pollution in the world now to have healthy local economies. And that saves transport and packaging.
I like upside-down thinking. And I inspire people with Biomimicry.
Products that are strong during their lifespan and biodegradable afterward. Minimum materials. So logical! Generative design. Digital design.
Using abundantly available resources such as thistles (Italy), bamboo (2.5 billion people worldwide), fungi (many), algae (spirulina, superfoods), seaweeds (me and our teams), and microbes (soil restoration).
Healthy food, feed, fertilizers, and fibers. Paper. Fashion. Cosmetics. Healthy processes for color. Like nature does with structure and light reflection.
We are working on it with Biomimicry. But it takes time…
So, in the meantime, I inspire as many people as possible to jump on the bandwagon and design healthy economies and societies with us.
Including all the new tech. Digital twins will help us predict tsunamis. And detect a fire before it becomes a wildfire. We use DAOs. Decentralized autonomous organizations. NFTs. Non-fungible tokens. Web3. Dataverses and metaverses. AI. Artificial intelligence and self-learning systems.
We live in solid times. Bones. Compacted soils.
No breathing space for soil microbes. We are now going into liquid times. And we need to adapt our human ways to our planet. Tap into our rights for evolution. Care for our home. Gaia. Earth. For that, we need to find the middle in ALL subjects together. No walls. No silos. All-inclusive. Validating rest streams and harvesting pollution to make new, healthy products.
My work is in research of (human) nature, advisory, and communication.
With huge teams all around the world, we redesign cities, harbors, villages, and food forests. Healthy societies, economies, cities, towns, and village areas. Sponge cities to solve floods. Roads that clean the water. Buildings that clean the air.
Cities that cool the planet. Edible, malaria-low cities.
I am an advisor to the EU Commission and work in education. We have an online living LAB — Abundance 4 ALL so that all people can adapt good solutions easily to local ecosystems and local cultures.
But that’s enough about my work…
Health in Action
Last year I became seriously ill. Breast cancer. Chemo. Radiation. Operation. I recovered just barely. Whereas my best friend M. died. I still mourn and celebrate her life…
From me, you can expect stories about:
- Futures. I’m convinced we are just in evolution. I laugh with Gaia and show you how we see things and how we design futures…
- Health & Cancer. Regular and alternative experiences
- Environmental health and ESG, sustainability
- Economy — macro and business
- Tech — Superformula (new math, 2003), engineering, green chemistry, resonance
- Nature — my big love. I’m a Wild Woman Writer
- Art — I live an arty lifestyle as a professional nomad
- Travel & Cultures & Poetry
My personal ME
I’m more than my work. My work is ME too. I’ve been writing all my life. It’s how I think. And how I breathe. My mother tongue is Dutch. I’m bilingual. And some other languages too. Languages and cultures define us. Our spirit.
I travel together with my hubby Mike. I’m Dutch with Indonesian roots. Mike is Dutch-African. We combine 3 continents. Our main areas of work are Benelux, Greece, and Indonesia. The rest is online.
At this moment, I’m a mermaid in Greece. The lovely Paralio Astros is my home for a while. Alternated with Nuenen. The village of Van Gogh in the Netherlands. Our arty home village.
A life we lovingly share with 2 daughters (30 & 34), grandchildren (4, 6, 8, 12), and my mum (88) when we are in NL.
To give you some idea of my inspirations:
This is Paralio Astros.
