November Finished With a BOOM!
Welcome, friends
We were trotting along at a nice relaxed November pace when I received the news. Just as the month was coming to an end, the big boss announced that I could become a Friend of Medium.
He made me an offer I could not refuse.
You have probably heard by now. You can voluntarily upgrade your Medium membership to fifteen bucks a month (or 150/year) and become a Friend of Medium.
I jumped at the chance like it was a lifeboat on the Titanic.
My new friendship with Medium means that when I read your story, you earn four times the amount you would normally earn. And… I get a cute little heart thingy on my avatar.
Think about that. I can help people by reading. That, dear Framers, is what friends are for. To help and support one another.
I respect the decision to make this upgrade a choice. Medium did not increase the membership fee across the board. They understood that these are challenging economic times and allowed each of us to independently decide to upgrade, or not.
So, for the price of Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese Extra Value Meal I can now spread joy among my favorite writers on Medium for an entire month. I’m loving it!
Back at the Ranch…
Full Frame had a very good month. We had a considerable number of new writers come on board. The number of followers also spiked, and the number of Boosted stories held steady.
Pouya Karim was the star of the month in terms of Boosted stories. His historical pieces struck a chord with the nominators and curators. He was Boosted a number of times.
Here is a story that really spoke to me. Camera Lucida, the book by Roland Barthes is a must read for any photographer, and Pouya does a great job of breaking it down for us.
Stories that deserve more eyeballs
Since Boosted stories get extra views and reads automatically I would like to recommend some unboosted stories that I enjoyed in November. I think that they deserve more eyeballs.
This piece by Miguel Feuggin speaks of the place where I spent seven winters. I fell in love with its environment, culture and history. The images are outstanding. Have a peek:
It rattles me when people have the camera I dream about. Robert Schall made me drool with his new Hassy.
Our new editor, Lauri Novak displays her playful creativity in this story that goes against the rules. Fun stuff!
A new Framer, Chloe Gordon, put together this short but impressive portfolio of her Sacred Lotus images.
Another newbie, Kleri, shared a fascinating collection of abstract images. “The most trivial things often reveal something far more beautiful than they should” she muses. I tend to agree. Have a look:
The 52 Week Project
The project is coming to an end. We are considering a 2024 version. Let’s wait and see. If there is interest we will keep going.
These Framers contributed to the November edition of the 52 Week Project. Click on the names to see their submissions:
Pockett Desert, Sara Larca, David Matthias, Rodrigo, Dr.Pretti Singh, John Keeler, Jesse R, Barker, Lauri Novak, Erika Burkhalter, Michael Agrios, and kasey sparks.
The December tasks are:
49. Under the Weather. Interpret that as you will.
50. Home Alone. Like the movie, or not.
51. Double Exposure. Don’t think twice, it’s all right.
52. Self Portrait. Shoot yourself. Avoid the foot.
