My First 52 Weeks Photography Project Story
November 2023

This is the first month I’m jumping in here to participate in the 52 Weeks Photography Project that Rodrigo S-C has so wonderfully put together.
I decided I should start doing this. In the past, I have participated in 365 projects, daily themes, and weekly and monthly challenge projects. The challenges always made me pick up my camera and create. Sometimes the creation happened in post-processing but mostly it happened right in camera.
The way I’m choosing to do this 52 Weeks Photography Challenge is by going through that month’s images and seeing what I have that fits the concepts or words.
With that, here are my November images:
#44: Mirror Image
This is a no-brainer for me. I have at least 20 mirror images and/or reflection images in my November archives. I’m drawn to reflections, dare I say, obsessed with them.
This is from a day spent with two of my photography friends who I met up with in downtown Chicago.
I love putting my camera up against huge reflective surfaces. It could be windows, marble walls or metal structures. Whatever works.

#45: In My Life
So many things to choose from here but in looking through this month’s images I had to pick my brother.
I’m very proud of how he turned his life around. Now, he’s involved in an amazing cycling organization that puts on events and raises money to help create and maintain trails in local forest preserves. They work with local governments to clear out invasive species of plants and keep the trails in shape for everyone to enjoy.
He’s been working at a bike shop for a good 30 years. He raced Cyclocross for several years and now mostly just enjoys being out on the bike.
Because of his bicycle life, I’ve photographed races and other cycling events for fun and a wee bit of profit at one point. Now, it’s my way of giving back and I donate my time and the images for the organization.
Here he is with his friend The Grinch at an event held the day after Thanksgiving.

#46: Purple Haze
This was a tough one for what I photographed in November. Maybe a stretch but I’m making it fit.
Cyclists are a fun bunch and I enjoy photographing them.

#47: This Must Be the Place
For me, it’s my backyard.
My work breaks, my mental breaks, my I need some fresh air breaks, all happen in my backyard.
First snow of the winter — my backyard.

#48: In The Heat of the Night
For the most part, I’m not out with my camera at night. We do go to quite a bit of live music where cameras are not allowed.
In the old days, I would have spent time with a similar view to this. Now, other than live music, or a dinner out now and then, we tend to relax at home. Thankfully, we enjoy each other’s company.

I am looking forward to December’s concepts. Might have to think ahead for one or two of these.
Want to join in? Feel free! The more the merrier.
December’s Concepts:
49. Under the Weather. Interpret that as you will.
50. Home Alone. Like the movie, or not.
51. Double Exposure. Don’t think twice, it’s all right.
52. Self Portrait. Shoot yourself. Avoid the foot.
I am a photographer, educator, mentor & photo tour guide.
If I have to classify my work it’s mostly fine art photography. Based outside of Chicago, I enjoy photographing architecture, traveling as much as possible and just wandering in nature with my camera are my favorite things to do.
