My Baby Called Medium Is Born
Nine months onto the platform summarized through my categories, what I’ve learned from them, and some 2022 updates
Dear readers, future followers. Like the time comes for a baby to see the light out of the mother’s uterus, here I stand, facing the reality of my nine-month-long creation on Medium.
I’ve lost myself a bit in the process of creating, writing, reading other authors, and struggling to understand Seo practices and the best tools required.
I’ve had quite a hard time finding my own writing voice, my niche, and my tribe. I’d prefer to call them readers, actually.
I need to reorganize ideas, put suggestions to work, and see what happens.
These are the reasons why I’m offering you all my content organized through categories. I think it will help you and me find out what this little baby called Medium really looks like.
In the counting I’m not considering the first post I published in May 2021 which gained four zero’s, 0000 results. 0 views, 0 reads, 0 read ratio, 0 fans. In short, it was an abortion (and I also canceled the article!)
I don’t know if you would like to change the narrative of this history. Just in case, I leave you the link. (No longer needed).
These are the categories I´ve collected: Writing, Medium Writers Challenge, Life, Cats, Coaching, Cooking, Middle-Age, Education, Mental Health, Meditation, Spirituality, Psychology, and Self-Improvement.
I won’t talk about my cats friends here, because I’m trying to create a dedicated Publication for them. Be patient and you’ll soon be able to read all the previous articles and so much more about Cats.
P.S. As the project of the prefigured publication is longing for its realization, I’ve decided to share a link to the list of my cat-fond articles, including mine. https://medium.com/@cristina.cattai/list/catfond-049e94061661
Writing
This seems to be a recurrent topic, and to be crystal clear I don’t consciously privilege it. It’s more a thing coming out from my subconscious. When I don’t know what to write about, and don’t even want to go through the process of brainstorming, I instinctively write on writing matters.
To tell you the truth, I’m not so proud of some of my creations. But they are part of my growth and I won’t deny anything. Let’s take them as some not desired nausea in the first months of pregnancy, if you don’t mind.
Medium Writing Challenge 2021
I participated with two written pieces on the topics of Space and Death and won…my first moment of exhaltation for being distributed. Then everything got back to normality. If you’re not laughing by now, I’m doing it for you!
Life
This is one of my favourite topics.
I’ve got some life experience to rely on, due to my age and not only. I never run out of ideas. I like to give my opinion, regardless of what others may think.
I also try to work as a lifecoach (no joking, reach out if you need any consultations), and it is seriously based on my institutionally recognized training and practice as a psychologist.

Cooking
A new list is collecting amazing recipes and stories related to cooking and kitchens. Check it out here: https://medium.com/@cristina.cattai/list/cooking-recipes-and-more-698bf0d4229e
Middle-age
Middle-age is the privileged condition of life I’m living at the moment, and I wouldn’t exchange it with any other period of my life.
Education
Although working in the school as an educator for almost a decade, I haven’t yet tapped into the vast repertory I could tell about. It will be one of my future goals.

Mental health
No comment. After so much time spent around the psychopathological aspects of life, I’ve decided to focus on positive thinking.
I could write a lot of stories about my past experiences, but I don’t really feel like it. Maybe I’m still elaborating on the hardness of the topic, and need to digest the most difficult ones I’ve met.
Enjoy some tips on growing a positive mindset through these recent articles:
And always invest in keeping good mental health:
Meditation
I’m a fan of meditation. I think it should be mandatory in schools to teach it as a fundamental matter.
Spirituality
Psychology
Self-Improvement
A touch of humor
Not every article, yet many, have a weird sense of British humor. I cannot help it. It’s part of me, of my school education, of my way of thinking.
I wouldn’t collect pieces under the humor flag, though. Ok, that’s not completely true. I usually publish them in the Pub.
I’m also taking into consideration a good visit to Doctor Funny’s crew. You can get a try as well, by overwhelming this email address with your subscriptions: Do you write funny? Email [email protected] with your Medium handle and Twitter handle and get added to the practice.
If you want to be sure to make the right choice on this Doctor, please read some instructions by Kristine Laco before choosing wisely.
Conclusion
It’s been a pleasure to prepare this summary and to update it. I’ve found some interesting points to bring to perfection, and I’ve become aware of different styles and changes I need to adopt in the way I’m writing. It’s nice to keep learning in the process… Grammarly has been very helpful since I introduced it as a stable tool. I still need to check the first articles I wrote. English is not my mother tongue, and I’m aware my first attempts are full of mistakes.
I hope you’ll also enjoy this journey, by taking the time to read some of my articles.
Final note: up to December 2022 I’ve been writing 214 published stories, and have received 2952 responses. (This article doesn’t show all of my pieces). My followers are reaching the 1k stepstones. I’m grateful to this super-engaging and supporting Medium family for all I’ve learned so far.
