Introduction

Social media is excellent means to spread the word. I regularly share chapters submitted to ILLUMINATION Book Chapters on my social accounts. Several authors and also readers share book chapters using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Quora, Reddit, and more.

We receive a lot of visitors from non-members of Medium. These visitors do not generate income for authors yet as most of them read chapters through Twitter free. However, they are interested in joining Medium and even become members.

Thank you for your inquiries. I am pleased that especially many “Indie” (independent/unaffiliated/self-publishers) authors are interested in this venture. I have also received requests from traditionally published authors who keep the copyright of their books.

While traditionally published authors delegate editing, marketing, and distribution of their books, Indie authors market and sell their books without assistance from established publishing companies. They are also known as self-published authors.

However, these authors may delegate book covers, editing, and distribution to other companies. Nowadays, there is a cross-over between traditional and Indie authors. Most of the authors use a hybrid model, including both models.

I established ILLUMINATION Book Chapters on Medium. This publication adds value to both traditionally and Indie published authors, but it extends the role by creating an opportunity to repurpose published books on Medium paywall.

As an added value, we allow both traditionally published and Indie authors to create new drafts, obtain beta readers, and turn the manuscripts into published books.

To submit your book chapters to ILLUMINATION Book Chapters publication, you need to be a member of Medium.

You can start your membership by clicking on https://medium.com.

You can be a free member and start sharing your content and reading a few stories a day. However, I recommend new applicants join the Medium Partner Program (MPP), which allows them to gain passive income and to read a limitless amount of content. The monthly membership cost is $5 (USD).

You need to link your Medium account to a Stripe account to be able to monetize your content. Stripe is available in many countries, but there are some exceptions, like India where Stripe is not available.

Reasons to join ILLUMINATION Book Chapters

There are seven unique values to traditionally published and indie authors.

1 — You can earn income from your published content on Medium.

2 — You can gain new readers via repurposed book chapters.

3 — You can gain new followers on Medium.

4 — You can find beta readers who can provide feedback for your manuscripts.

5 — You can start creating manuscripts derived from your published stories.

6 — You can update and transfer your published stories on Medium into the ILLUMINATION Book Chapters.

7 — You can obtain reader reviews and testimonials about yourself and your books. You can convert your stories to new manuscripts and publish them as books later.

How authors can create visibility of their chapters

ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications created a platform to distribute story links in social media like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Quora etc. and via mailing lists.

The stories are hosted on Medium; hence they can generate income if Medium members read them. If non-members read them, no income is generated. However, when non-members become members, their reading times are credited to writers at a specific time.

Our editors also create visibility by featuring book chapters regularly.

Here are a few samples.

Karen Madej reviews several books in her editorial bulletins. Here are two samples.

Britni Pepper collects all authors and indexes their details in a story.

Britni also features individual writers. For example, she recently featured an excellent book of Phil Rossi called Heartfelt Hill.

I featured several authors. For example, I conducted an interview with Keri Mangis about her multiple-award-winning book.

You may also check this introduction for an excellent book by Simon Dillon.

I recommend authors to self-promote their stories as explained in this story.

I also created a 100-day writing challenge to give an opportunity for our writers to submit one chapter per day. You can start this activity when you are ready. No time limit! No pressure. It is only a guide for motivation.

Please also check this guide on how to write a 30,000-word e-book in a month.

You may find some published book chapters and get a quick taste from this post.

We compile all chapters in a story. There will be monthly chapters and distributed to our subscribers.

Let me share some testimonials about ILLUMINATION Book Chapters.

So, all you published creative authors out there, jump on the bandwagon now and get the power of Medium and Illumination behind your marketing and promotional efforts. Like I said, it works. I‘ve just come upon a new and intriguing proposition. In its first year, ILLUMINATION gained an incredible 90,000 followers, making it one of the fastest-growing and most successful publications on Medium. You can learn more about that in Dew Langrial ’s piece here. Dr Yildiz has a busy, inventive mind, and is always looking for clever ideas to support writers. ILLUMINATION is breaking new ground here. With the introduction of ILLUMINATION Book Chapters, a longer, richer, and deeper reading experience becomes available on Medium. Our new publication has nothing but longform stories, divided up into chapters. Here the writers spread out their biggest and best work, and readers can immerse themselves in the experience, coming up to draw the occasional breath of the everyday world when it’s time to click on the link to the next chapter. Illumination has the policy of inclusivity. Dr. Mehmet Yildiz is very clear that everybody should get a chance to publish their stories. People from all walks of life, different countries, nationalities are welcome to this family. Those who do not have English as their first language are also given a chance to express their views and can be mentored with the support of editors. This publication is also inclusive. It gives us all a chance to express something. Dr Preeti Singh

Hello lovelies, this week is all about my favourite, FICTION! A special edition today to celebrate the launch of a new ILLUMINATION family publication. If you haven’t spotted Dr Mehmet Yildiz’s ILLUMINATION Book Chapters publication invitation yet, I suggest you give it a read. Karen Madej

“I have wanted to write a book since I was a teenager. I remember sitting at the desk in my bedroom with my powder-blue plastic Smith Corona manual typewriter in front of me. I was ready. But then I realized that I had no idea what to write about, so I went back downstairs and watched Luke and Laura’s wedding on General Hospital. But I digress. Linda Kowalchek

“For all those who’ve jumped the gun and started typing their first chapters into the laptop, you’ve got to understand a few things: And it goes back to the same problem of editors having a limited amount of time. No amount of frenzied typing is going to get around this problem. I’m not an editor, but I’ve done some editing for a couple of the big names here on ILLUMINATION.Jay Toran
