How Illumination Book Chapters Works!
It does what it says it does on the cover

On the 6th of April my first submission to Illumination Book Chapters was published. Over the course of the following days I began to submit chapters from two other short stories published on Amazon. The three stories I am adding chapters from are 'The Man With An Alien Heart', 'The Supernatural Jacket' and 'Extraterrestrial Contact', all from my 'Mystic Rainbow' volumes of short stories.
Almost from the get go, the stories were curated by Medium for wider distribution. Even better, the books on Amazon from which those chapters came, have begun to sell, which to be honest is far more than this old boy expected. These days I have grown to be a little cynical and circumspect due to my life experiences, both personal and professional. This time I was proven to be wrong.
One reader who bought a book was kind enough to tell me that they had felt engaged enough to stay up late to continue reading the first volume of Mystical Rainbow. I can think of no higher compliment than that apart from fellow writer Stuart Englander's comment about 'the Man With An Alien Heart' being something Kurt Vonnegut himself would have been proud of.
I hope that this is just the beginning of what I now believe is going to be, among a great many other things, a superb marketing and promotional tool. Any writers amongst you who have published books would be well informed to reverse engineer your published books and put them up on Illumination Book Chapters chapter by chapter.
Like a lot of you writers, I have tried to promote the books on Linkedin and didn't get a single sale out of it. I also used Facebook and got one sale. Of course, I shall continue to use those platforms, but from now on it's 'Illumination Book Chapters' for me, first and foremost.
Not too long ago Ev Williams himself stated that from now on Medium is going to do more to support writers, even over supporting publications. I think what he meant was over Medium pubs rather than over pubs like Illumination. And the fact that my fellow published writer friends are also seeing their book chapters being Medium curated, says an awful lot.
Also, a bit further back Ev announced that Medium had bought into an ebook publishing house in Paris called 'Glose'. For me, this shows a massive commitment to the longer read and support for the writers of such works. And let's not forget, the whole raison d’être of Medium from the very beginning was to offer readers something more substantial than a tweet on Twitter. So for me, Ev is being highly consistent with his latest moves. And it is highly fortuitous that our very own leader Dr Mehmet Yildiz has shown himself to be in total accord with Ev in supporting published writers by launching Illumination Book Chapters. And let us not forget that these days Medium pays its writers based not upon claps but on how long a reader reads your writings. So theoretically, you should also see an increase in your Medium earnings.
So, all you published creative authors out there, jump on the bandwagon now and get the power of Medium and Illumination behind your marketing and promotional efforts. Like I said, it works. It does what it says it does on the cover. It is a wonderful opportunity for published writers like you, don't miss it.
I welcome new authors who joined this new initiative. I look forward to exploring your chapters.
Remember, you do NOT have to write anything new. You are simply cutting and pasting your already existing content into Illumination Book Chapters with a link to where your work is already published. Jeff Herring would call this re-purposing content, and he's right, that is all it is.
