Interview with Genius Turner
A polymath who echoes Picasso’s slogan: “Give me a museum, and I’ll fill it.”

In this post, I share an interview script I enjoyed conducting with Genius Turner, a long-term contributor to the Medium community and an ardent supporter of ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications, loved by our writers and readers. Even Tim Denning, Medium superstar, joined ILLUMINATION with the influence of this wonderful collaborator.
I met Genius several years ago. His collaboration, especially on LinkedIn, is exceptional. His stories in my publications stand out due to their impact, rich information, originality, life lessons, diversity, and engaging content. He is the author of multiple books as a novelist, screenwriter, and playwright. Genius is also a spiritual teacher.
I’m confident that exploring the background of this remarkable individual will be both enlightening and rewarding. As a polymath, deep thinker, linchpin, and excellent communicator, he offers valuable insights and interesting perspectives worth exploring.

Hi Genius, tell us a bit about your background.
First, Dr. Yildiz, I’d like to say thank you! The community, pardon, and “family” you’ve built here with Illumination serve as a continuous source of inspiration. I am grateful for that.
Second, I’m Genius Turner. As for my background, because life is short and art is long, I’ll be brief. I was born on Leap (Year) Day. As for why my date of birth is important, I suspect having such an unusual day of birth set the stage for my equally unusual approach to writing. And as you well know, the word “unusual” is synonymous with genius.
From the very instant family members told me that three out of every four years, I’d get to choose on which day I’d celebrate my birthday (Feb. 28 or March 1), I grew accustomed to questioning what others had taken for granted. After all, I reasoned intuitively as a youth, if even birthdays grant exceptions to the rule, who’s to say the principle doesn’t hold across the board?
In short, long before I wrote, “a person waiting to leave the earth to go to a heaven is like a fish waiting to leave the sea to go for a swim,” in the Heaven on Earth Code, I’d already called into question presumed religious truths.
Long before I wrote “today’s genius is tomorrow’s common sense” in the Biological Code, in which I extrapolate humanity is evolving into a final species (from Darwinian insights), I’d already called into question presumed scientific principles.
Long before I wrote, “There’s a war going on inside that no mortal is safe from,” in the Psychological Code, in which I highlight the Physical Mind vs. the Spiritual Mind, I’d already called into question presumed psychological notions.
In short, the above theme holds for my work in mathematics and all other such scribblings.
What are your hobbies?
Any fun activity that can add something of value. Meditation, inspirational movies/documentaries, conversing with interesting people, and reading.
What are the top three books that have affected your life?
- The Master Key System (in 1912, the author coined the expression “law of attraction”).
- The World as Will & Representation (Schopenhauer, along with Kant, was also Einstein’s favorite philosopher).
- Canon of holy books (Bible, Dhammapada, Bhagavad Gita, Tao Te Ching, Koran, etc.).
Why do you write on Medium?
It was my buddy Sean Kernan, aka “the King of Quora,” who first introduced me to this awesome platform. And given that “follow your bliss” is my motto, such bliss led me here in the summer of 2020.
What are your values as a writer?
As a scribbler, my chief aim is always this: do my best to help the reader realize his/her truest, highest potential. After all, to become the noun, you first have to be the verb. In short, I try my darndest to help readers actualize their “genius potential.”
Perhaps Socrates put it best when he said, “I can’t teach anybody anything; I can only inspire them to think.”
How do you connect with your readers?
I suspect one of the reasons I’ve been fortunate to have had popular content across various platforms reflects my grasp of the following insight: because in each person’s mind, he/she is the M.I.P. (“most important person”) in history, I only write content that vibes to tunes played on their favorite radio station, W.I.I.F.M. (“what’s in it for me”).
Why did you join ILLUMINATION, and how did you find it so far?
I joined ILLUMINATION due to the sense of community. I noticed how Trista Signe Ainsworth, 🥰Lanu Pitan🥰, Rebecca Romanelli, Jenine “Jeni” Baines, Annelise Lords, and so on ad infinitum, openly supported each other. Given that I grew up as an only child, I’ve always gravitated toward communities that prize brotherhood and sisterhood.
Who are the top writers you follow on Medium?
Ahem, this marks another case of my off-beat approach to life. Mea culpa! Though I read dozens of writers, I only follow three (Kay Bolden, Barack Obama and Ev Williams). The reason being, the number three holds special significance in my life.
When Tim Denning edited my Law of Three article, little did I know it would make a major impact. Over the past few years, “369 Manifestation Method” enthusiasts have reached out to me, citing this article (and a few earlier posts on Quora) as the basis of their movement.
In short, given that I was born in 3rd Ward at 3:03 pm, not to mention that I lack a birthday 3 out of every four years, needless to say, the number 3 is my lucky number.
What are your top five stories that you want to share with your audience and why?
- Dedication to George Floyd, My Big Brother (in this piece, my heart overflowed and leaked from my pen to page; also, I’m forever grateful to Sister Kay for having published it).
- Einstein’s Formula for a Happy Life (in this viral article, I reveal Einstein’s formula for happiness).
- Why Tesla Called “3, 6 & 9” the Secret to the Universe (in this viral article, I extend a theorem plucked from my Pure Mathematics Code; also, I’m forever grateful to Brother Timmy for having edited it).
- How to Think Like Jeff Bezos (in this viral article, I shed light on how Bezos’s unique POV served as the basis for his becoming history’s first centibillionaire).
- Why So Many Billionaires Are College Dropouts (in this viral article, I showcase my God-given genius in full — namely, iconoclastic writing at its finest).
- Bonus: Why Einstein Believed in God (after taking almost a week to write this “grandiose” piece, I was inspired to publish it for free).
What do you recommend to the new writers on ILLUMINATION?
Truly grasp what Michelangelo meant by “if you knew how much work went into it, you wouldn’t call it genius.”
I read many stories from Genius in my publications and others, but his recent eye-opening story on ILLUMINATION-Curated inspired me a lot.
