Chapter 16 breaks down what writers need to do to earn money from their Medium stories.

Writers at Medium can monetize their stories; they must be a member of the Partner Program. The number of views, reads, claps, comments, and highlights a story receives and an algorithm determines the percentage of money earned by each story. Medium disburses the earnings monthly.

Applying to the Partner Program is a snap. You must be 18 or older, have published at least one story on Medium, and gained at least 100 followers.

The Partner Program dashboard tracks how well your stories are earning. From there, it’s easy to tell what subjects resonate with your readership.
