What Makes Me Really Angry
When I see someone being bullied, I lose it…
I was inspired by Adrian CDTPPW’s post Anger is Not Worth It, and Brenda Arledge’s post Don’t Press My Buttons.
They are based on a challenge by Pamela Oglesby, where she asks, “Do you get angry easily, or what makes you mad?”
In their articles they both discuss the issue of anger, and how they deal with it.
I’d like to consider myself a pretty understanding person. But I do get irritable. It’s not necessarily anger, and it’s easily solved if you just hand me some coffee and walk away slowly.
I can also get a little intense at times, and I think that throws people off. My enthusiasm for a topic of conversation, for example, may appear to be anger induced. But really it’s just excitement.
I also have issues with defensiveness. And when I feel backed into a corner, it comes out. And the anger follows like a wildfire. It’s hard to control. It’s related to my PTSD. I go into “fight or flight” mode.
The thing that makes me the most angry though is injustice. When I see a person or persons being bullied, I lose it.
I’ve never been in a physical fight in my life, but I’ve come close many times. And I got out of it every time by getting loud and in the person’s face. I’ve been told that I can be quite intimidating.
