Hello Globetrotters!
How is everyone doing? Hope your week is going well!
😍🍁🍂🎃👻🦇💀😱😨
We have some great spooky stories for you to check out, but first…
Just a little while ago I posted some photos and experiences of what October was like when I visited the state of Idaho last year. After living in a tropical climate for so long, it was a total trip, for real, and essentially I got to experience all the seasons of the year in little over one single month.
Most places across the globe end up having some crazy weather, and October is one of those months when a lot of changes will likely end up taking place.
So, my question to you is: what does October look like where you are?
Is it sunny and tropical? Rainy and overcast (like here in Trinidad & Tobago)? Are the nights getting increasingly frosty? Or, is it just more of the same?
I do hope you will take a quick moment to let me know what October is like where you are in the comments, or, you if you are a Globetrotters’ writer, feel free to answer in the form of posting a story response.
Here are a few related posts we’ve already published in regards to what Autumn looks like for some of our lovely writers:
- “Autumn Brings Cooler Days With Rain & Winds — A Time For Flasks Of Vin Chaud, Folding Chairs & Impromptu Picnics” by Janice Macdonald
- “A Chilly Morning Walk in Canmore, Alberta” and “The Breathtaking Beauty of Banff in the Fall” by Kua Lina

Story Recaps
Check out our latest story recap by Adrienne Beaumont. She always does such a great job. Love it!💝

This Week’s Featured Writer
I feel like the luckiest person on Medium to be working with such an amazing team of editors. And of course our newest addition has just been the icing on the cake: Jillian Amatt.
Before joining us as an editor, she’d long been a veteran of posting some of the best travel stories on Medium — loved reading her stories about traveling the world, literally: “I Sailed Around The World! An experience that carved out who I really am” and “An Epic Kayaking Adventure — Part One. We had never kayaked before!”.
Her enthusiastic participation here at Globetrotters almost made it seem like she’d been a part of the team already. To add her was a mere formality really.
Once she did officially join our team, she dove right in getting involved by not only helping to publish stories, but also with monthly challenges, filling in for Adrienne for a few weeks by writing story recaps and helping to make essential decisions about particulars regarding the pub.
Thanks Jill, for all that you do!
Here’s a potpourri of lovely stories to check out. Show Jill your appreciation (and also make her stats soar!):
- “Every House Has a Grape Vine In Bulgaria”
- “Where I Come From — Banff/Canmore, Canada”
- “Celebrating the Strangest Ramadan In Morocco”
- “An Ode To Our Suitcase. You were a good ol’ chap”
- “Alcohol Can Be Made From Bananas!”
October Monthly Challenge — Spooky!
Our monthly challenge for October is spooky stories.
We’ve had some great ones so far!
Here are our latest stories submitted since my last update:
- Serhii Onkov wrote about the Fanal Forest in Madeira, Portugal and posted some fantastic photos of misty trees… and cows… in “Fanal. Mysterious Forest Not From This World”.
- Osan Fernando wrote about a place that continues to fascinate us all in “The Ghosts Of Alcatraz, The Rock and My Scary Silly Imaginations”.
- Well said! I loved how Sara Burdick pointed out the importance of honoring the spirits of those who have passed on in “A Haunted Cemetery in Bogotá, Myths, and Legends Make History More Exciting”.
- Araci Almeida explains why you should proceed with caution before helping any damsel in distress in the middle of the night in Sintra, Portugal: “At the Curve, They Gave a Dead Woman a Ride”.
- Read two incredible stories: one of the mysterious white sands in New Mexico and the other of the equally mysterious area in the Nevada desert known as Area 51 by James Baxter: “White Sands New Mexico. The ghost of Pavla Blanca” and “The ExtraTerrestrial Highway. In search of the phenomenon”.
- Luda Zueva told an engaging and mystifying story of her son and lingering ghosts in “Unfinished Business At Amber Beacon”.
- Always love and appreciate Janin Lyndovsky’s stories. Like this one about a wise teacher helping to predict her future… and perhaps assist her in finding her path in life: “My Unforgettable St Andrew’s Celebration”.
- Lane Henry wrote about an intriguing visit to the Capuchin Catacombs in Sicily, but also about the importance of practicing reverence when visiting such places: “The Creepiest Place On Your Next European Travel Itinerary”.
