Summary

Globetrotters Writing Prompt invites writers to submit their spooky stories for the October Monthly Challenge, focusing on themes like ghosts, haunted houses, and unique Halloween traditions.

Abstract

The Globetrotters Writing Prompt for October is themed "Let's Get Spooked," encouraging writers to share their eerie experiences from around the world. Participants are asked to recount personal encounters with ghosts, visits to haunted houses, spooky events in abandoned villages, or unique Halloween customs from their home countries. The challenge, which runs until October 30th, emphasizes the importance of travel in the narrative and provides guidelines for article submissions, including a maximum length of 10 minutes, proper image crediting, and the inclusion of a "monthly challenge" tag. The editors, Adrienne, JoAnn, Jillian, and Anne, express gratitude for past contributions and look forward to this month's stories, with Jillian Amatt already setting the tone with a story about a haunted hotel.

October Monthly Challenge— Let’s Get Spooked

From Ghosts up to haunted houses

Things happen around the world that scare us one way or the other. Especially during the month of October, I must watch out when walking around not to accidentally walk into a Halloween celebration.

These scary dress-up parties aren’t a tradition in Germany but like everywhere else, we’ve taken on this part of the American culture and made it part of our own. Just that well, let’s say I try to avoid them.

I really don’t like those masks and scary creatures. More than once have I escaped such a party and walked home. Alone. 10 kilometers across the fields and through the woods. At night.

That isn’t scary for me. Not compared to those spooky events.

So here we go, in the celebration of Halloween, we dedicate this month to your spooky stories from around the world. Will you manage to scare me?

At Globetrotters, our theme for the month of October will be:

Let’s get spooked!

Have you ever seen a ghost?

Did you visit a haunted house somewhere in the world?

Were you walking through an abandoned village and experienced something spooky?

Does your home country have a tradition where you dress up in a spooky way?

Or tell us about your unique Halloween celebration.

We’re looking forward to your submissions. As always, at the end of the month, the editors of Globetrotters will announce their personal winners. While we do submit our entries as well, we do not take part in the competition.

Please remember to follow our guidelines when submitting an article:

  • The maximum article length must be 10 minutes.
  • Always credit your images, even if they are your own. Please review our image policy if unsure.
  • Write your article in the form title-subtitle-title image.
  • Please add the tag “monthly challenge”.
  • Make sure that travel is still a focus of your story.
  • The challenge will run from October 1st until October 30th. We reserve the last day of the month to post the results from the challenge.
  • For more clarification on submissions, visit the Globetrotters submission guidelines.

We, the team of editors at Globetrotters (Adrienne, JoAnn, Jillian & Anne), want to thank each of you for contributing to our publication. You’ve sent so many fascinating articles on the past challenges and we can’t wait for the next ones.

Thank you.
