This is What October Looks Like in Idaho

Experiencing every season in a span of a month or so is absolutely remarkable!

Most places on planet Earth end up experiencing their fair share of insane weather, however, there are few places I’ve personally been where the weather can change so drastically between the seasons in such a short amount of time.

It’s like encountering summer, spring, fall and winter all in the span of a few weeks!

Last year I spent the end of September through the first part of November in Idaho, awaiting the birth of my precious first grandbaby. It was an incredibly bittersweet time for this reason, but also because I experienced home in a way I hadn’t in a long time. Most of my trips back to my home state have been fairly short… a week here and a week there. And I’ve been away for so long now it’s almost like a brand-new place to me sometimes.

Absence does make the heart grow fonder, for sure!

I wrote previously about what autumn looked like in Idaho when I first arrived in September:

We did a lot of sightseeing while I was there and drove up into the mountains to see the beautiful leaves and trees.

The Caribou-Targhee Forest area is simply spectacular most of the year, but fall is just rather magical. We also took road trips through Swan Valley to Palisades Reservoir. There are many places to camp and explore all throughout these areas. And of course, there’s the always showy Snake River to encounter, which, true to its nature, snakes itself around here, there and everywhere.

Then, one morning we all awoke to this:

This was my first time seeing snow in about 10 years, and the first time seeing it in Idaho in about 15, having previously lived in New Jersey for several years, which of course gets plenty of snow in the winter.

What a shock and surprise it was to suddenly see snow!

I wouldn’t trade that fantastic experience for anything in the world though! How grand the world is when we can travel around and see it up close. How beautiful all the colors are. This is what makes me so happy to be a traveler! Appreciating such things. Not sure how anyone can not believe in a higher power after witnessing such pure divinity!

This year, I’m in Trinidad & Tobago amid the rainy season. I was just hearing this morning from people how this year has been especially rainy… uh, yeah!!

It’s not only been raining cats and dogs… but also horses, cows, birds, pigs, alligators…. etc.

Oh well. I’m loving it anyway… this is the full flavor of the tropics. Central Florida was just a small taste. I feel blessed to be here every day!
