Summary

Teaser Tales is a publication that accepts flash fiction or nonfiction submissions aimed at promoting longer works, with specific guidelines on content, formatting, and tagging.

Abstract

The "Teaser Tales — Submission Guidelines" webpage outlines the criteria for submitting short stories or nonfiction pieces to the Teaser Tales publication. Submissions must be original, non-erotic teasers of 200 to 700 words that promote a longer story, book, or series. The guidelines emphasize the importance of an engaging title, a single high-quality image, and appropriate tagging to ensure the story aligns with the publication's purpose. The publication does not accept erotic content, and stories should be less than five years old. Authors are encouraged to follow the magazine and can submit their work for consideration, with the understanding that editors will review submissions for adherence to guidelines and cannot provide editing services.

Opinions

  • The publication values originality and encourages the promotion of both one's own work and that of other writers.
  • The guidelines suggest a preference for simplicity in story presentation, with a focus on a single image and minimal links or calls to action.
  • The editors prioritize content that is likely to be recommended by the platform, aiming to increase visibility and views for the promoted stories.
  • The publication is inclusive, allowing for a diverse range of topics and genres, but explicitly excludes content featuring paedophilia or racist themes.
  • The editors are committed to a swift review process and will communicate with authors if their submission needs revisions or does not meet the guidelines.
  • There is an anticipation of growth for the publication, with plans to email subscribers weekly with featured teaser tales if the magazine gains traction.

Purpose of Teaser Tales

The magazine has a purpose: To publish original short, inviting, non-erotic tales which promote longer fiction or non-fiction of any kind.

  • A story already published on Medium.
  • A story or book published on another platform or publisher.

You are welcome to promote your own or another writer’s work that you like.

Rules

  • The story you are promoting must be less than five years old when published.
  • As mentioned, your promotional tale must not be erotic in content. This way there is a better chance this platform will recommend it and then hopefully the promoted story will receive more views.
  • Send us an original (not used else where) flash fiction or nonfiction teaser — tagging the story with either of these topics — between 200 and 700 words. Your teaser can be suggestive, but not erotic. Use your imagination — your goal is to encourage the reader to click on the story link/embed that you provide at the bottom of the teaser tale.
  • No other embeds allowed. Also, limit your in-text links within the story and CTAs at the bottom. Keep your post simple.
  • Make sure the title is intriguing.
  • Use a high-quality image that is eye-catching, but NOT the same image as the one heading the story you are linking to, although is can be the same model in a different pose.
  • The photo must have a copyright caption. Position the image at the top of the page, followed by the title. If you are unsure how to achieve this, check out this article.
  • Only one image per story. We want the main focus to be towards the embed.

Topics to use

Suggested tags for your teaser tale:

Always tag with Flash fiction or nonfiction to describe the type of teaser you have written, so it will appear on the appropriate publication feature page.

Then, add your choice of non-erotic topics to describe the short & the story you wish to share; such as — teaser, microfiction, short story, this happened to me, romance, relationships, diversity, LGBTQ, supernatural, horror, short read, fantasy, memoir, sci-fi — you get the idea.

Examples

Here are some examples of what we are looking for:

You are welcome to promote darker fiction. But please do not link to any stories which include paedophilia or racist content.

  • If promoting a serial, the embed should be one episode from the series, rather than the series list. You may also include an in-text link to the serial list.

What the editors at Teaser Tales will do.

  • Quickly we will read through, publish and auto tweet your story.
  • If your story does not meet the guidelines, needs more work or a better image, we will leave you a note or send it back.
  • However, we can not offer any editing service for this publication.

If the publication takes off, we will also email subscribers each week with a list of current teaser tales.

If you want to be included as a writer or contact us in anyway, then just add a comment below. Or find us on Twitter.
