Summary

The website content presents a collection of poetic reflections and musings inspired by the moon, interwoven with personal anecdotes,

Selenophilic and Poetophilic Ekphrasia

A poetic take on a nature scene that I observed and photographed plus a few previous moon poems of mine

Writer’s photo (no filter or enhancements)

The whole of the moon providing blue sky at night Radiant as sun

Starbursting moonbeams lens deceptions creating pulsar satellite

Illuminates clouds Isles with white sand shorelines in ocean cobalt blue

Mesmerized I gazed Rhiannon enchants with song Feel me pray to you

Oh, gracious goddess with so many names Diana, Luna, Isis, and others Many times cultures in oneness the same Make love with all should I have my druthers

Under cosmic shining light of gibbous moon Offer myself to thee with pure intentions Petites morts we’ll share under killing lune My sacrifice for your affirmations

Aligning my feelings with my wishes Realizing my wants may not equate with needs Trust universe will fill soul with riches Even if ego thinks we received weeds

Poet’s Notes:

  1. “An ekphrastic (description in Greek) poem is a vivid description of a scene or, more commonly, a work of art. Through the imaginative act of narrating and reflecting on the “action” of a painting or sculpture, the poet may amplify and expand its meaning.” Source

lens deceptions creating pulsar satellite

“Lens flare is a response to a bright, non-image forming light like the sun, a full moon, or artificial lighting which appears on the photo in the form of a haze or a starburst.” Source

5. [6/13 edit — I initially felt the pull to create the poem when I read and partially highlighted these lines in Natasha MH’s Rest and Relax, It’s Easy They Say, How do we do that and where do I sign up?

For me being outside of a building at any given time placates my mood. From glare of the sun to enchantment of the bright moon, I am a friendlier person thanks to generous boosts of endorphins and serotonin.

I linked my moon picture in a comment and she replied, “Mesmerizing!” Hence the first word of the fourth haiku stanza. I started writing tanka in my head. End edit]

Thanks, Stuart Englander for sparking me to start this poem as a haiku series before I shifted to a Shakespearean sonnet for the moonology and sexology portion. Read Stuart’s:

Other Poems of Mine Inspired by the Moon:

This first one is sexy!!

Moonlight Lovemaking, A tanka prose poem

Young lovers coupling in the splendor of the grass at night. His eyes lock on hers and he’s mesmerized by all of the reflection of the moon in her wide open pupils and her legs waxing and waning around the small of his back. Tonight, they shall start a family — their simultaneous orgasm ignited by the passion of lunacy.

Moonlight calls them forth male and female intertwine cosmic energy love’s tidal pull is so strong Nature’s law of attraction

Tankaing with the Moon

I talk to the moon walking under moon-lit sky No matter how cold I can always layer up My companion moon-shadow

Full Moon Tanka Haibun

Walked outside to relieve myself. Feels like freedom. No one around to judge. Just me and nature. Wind howled through the leaves that didn’t fall soon to be pushed away by buds. I prefer when the air is silent. In our little valley within a valley, I can bark like a dog, howl like a wolf, hoot like an owl, and hear the echo resound for what seems miles. Hoot like an owl. No, Who just loop pedal Joseph’d into my mind — or my mind just popped it into my brain — White Feather taught me not insane to know not the same — I can see for miles and miles. Freedom. What is freedom? Freedom to pee against the breeze but not freedom to pee on someone else’s freedom. Think about that, jules’s moon goddess says to me.

Moon is full tonight Low grey clouds majestic speed Obscuring vantage See moon speeding across sky Albert’s relativity

In Rama I create, with soul energy surging through my body, inspiring me and breathing wind into my sails,

Marcus (Gregory Maidman)
