If you want to know who Rasheed Hooda is and you are a writer for Medium/Illumination, you don’t have to look far. He is a prolific writer who publishes a story every day or two. If you read his bio it says:

“Self-proclaimed weirdo, Jack of Many Trades, Master of Some.”

Rasheed’s an editor of Illumination and a Top writer in Diversity, Travel, Music, and This Happened To Me.

Rasheed refers to himself as “Mr. Weirdo.” He says it describes his philosophy of life which is different than most peoples’.

For example, when asked what his goal in life was, he answered that he wanted to become a Bum. He writes about it in

I first “met” Rasheed (we’ve never actually met in person) many years ago in the online community RYZE. Many years later we connected again on Facebook. Rasheed’s Freedom Lifestyle intrigues me. He lives in his converted van, which he calls his “mobile domicile.” He writes about it in

Rasheed tells of an experience which would send most of us into a panic and calling 9–1–1. Instead, Rasheed, in characteristically Rasheed fashion, calmly says a prayer of gratitude and goes to sleep

A couple of years ago, when he was 62, Rasheed did something that few people would even dream of — he walked from Chicago to Santa Monica along Historic Route 66. He writes about it in

Rasheed says that you need to have a BIG dream that will serve as a beacon when you get lost in the deluge of everyday activities. Rasheed has one: He wants to stand on top of Mt. Everest on his 75th birthday. I think that’s about 10 years from now. He won’t be the oldest man to do that as an 87-year-old has already claimed that title, but still it will be an amazing accomplishment. I know. I’m 75 now and no way would I consider climbing any mountain, much less the highest one in the world. I wish you much success and God’s speed Rasheed!

Dr Mehmet Yildiz Interviewed Rasheed for this article:

In “Who Is Rasheed Hooda,” Rasheed uses Tim Maudlin’s template approach to tell us more about himself.

In that story, Rasheed uses this template. Read the story to see how he fleshes out each of these words which describe him and his philosophy

R — Resilient A — Adaptive S — Simple H — Humble E — Empowering E — Entrepreneur D — Diversified

H — Honest O — optimistic O — Opportunist D — Delightful A — Artist

I must confess that I like the sentiment in the following story. The title “Bloom Where You’re Planted” reiterates some advice I was given many years ago. By way of total disclosure, I must also confess that Rasheed mentions one of my stories.

Rasheed writes about Self-Empowerment, Photography, Creativity, Self-Growth, Entrepreneurship and Life Lessons among other things.

He loves to visit waterfalls and has photographed many of them. He’s quite the photographer and has sold many of his photographs.

Rasheed has some amazing lessons to share and does a great job of sharing them.

Recently, Rasheed wrote an excellent review of @Michele Thill’s work here on Medium. He did a great job and I encourage you to read it if you haven’t already.

Rasheed believes in helping others and you will find him often promoting the work of other writers in his stories.

So far, I’ve written about who Rasheed is, but what about his work? I mentioned that Rasheed is quite prolific. One of the things he likes to write about is writing here on Medium/Illumination. In a recent article he talked about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). If you don’t know what that means, you are not alone. I’d heard the term many times, but have only a vague idea what it means. The best I can do to define it is that it is what gets you to page one or even the top 5 of Google and other searches.

This is the article that got Rasheed to the number one spot on Google

This one mentioned in the Google piece is worth reading

This story tells how Rasheed became a nomad and what set him on the road to the Freedom Lifestyle he loves so much

If you are facing challenges, and who isn’t these days, you may need to REINVENT yourself. If so, Rasheed can help. In this article you can learn how he REINVENTED himself and how you can too:

And, if you are wondering how Rasheed is dealing with being “happily homeless” in the age of COVID-19, check out this story:

In the article

Rasheed mentions 10 Spiritual beliefs that have shaped him (I paraphrased some of them. You can read Rasheed’s words in the article):

Don’t believe everything — consider the source

All religions teach same message of Love & Unity

Spirituality has nothing to do with religiosity

The Universe is perfect as it is at any given moment.

The Universe is infinite — we are all at it’s center wherever we may be.

There can be no lack in an Infinite Universe

Gratitude is the key that unlocks the Abundance of Nature.

I am grateful for all things and all people since everything and everyone has contributed to my being who I am.

Everything we need to express ourselves fully is already here and will be and will be made available to us when we need it.

The principle of having available what we need when we need it is what I refer to as Serendipity or Synchronicity.

I should also mention that Rasheed is a published author of a book — Life: It’s A Trip. In it he shares his wisdom and many stories from his life of rich experiences. I enjoyed reading it; I think you will, too.

I hope this review of some of Rasheed’s writing has given you a better understanding of who he is and what he likes to write about. I’m sure if you read and follow him, he will help you become a better you. He’s certainly done that for me.

I wouldn’t be here on Medium enjoying this experience if it weren’t for Rasheed. I hope this review will encourage him as he has encouraged me and many others. I’ve most assuredly enjoyed my experience here on Medium/Illumination these past 3 months and I thank Rasheed for his persistence in inviting me to join in the fun.

If you enjoyed reading about Rasheed, check out his profile Rasheed Hooda and follow him and let me know your thoughts in the Responses below.

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t include a list of some of some of Rasheed’s favorite authors here on Illumination:

Julia E Hubbel, Dr. Roseanna Bakari (Rosennab), Henery X (long), Chris Hedges, Paul Myers MBA, Gurpreet Dhariwal, René Junge, Kathryn A. LeRoy, Ph.D., Timothy Key, Desiree Driesenaar, Holly Jahangiri

And, as Rasheed says, there were many others when he composed that list, which was limited to 10. I added Holly’s name as she is a mutual friend and writer here. I’m sure that by now there are hundreds of others. After all, Rasheed is currently following 1,000 writers and has 970 followers.
