Who Is Rasheed Hooda?
A story within a story.

I came across a wonderful story by Tim Maudlin the other day. He talked about how his way of telling stories on Medium led to an interview on a respectable podcast.
When I was growing up in India and Pakistan, we used this method to define ourselves. It was also an excellent way to improve vocabulary.
I also know that my friend Henery X (long) is fond of the same method and had used it to create a T-shirt business.
However, Tim says that one can use this method to create more than just simple stories. I don’t want to steal his thunder. I’ll let you read and find out more for yourself.
I like what I learned from Tim, and I am working on creating some niche-related products using his approach.
As I was brainstorming about what I am creating, I remembered how as children we used it to define ourselves using this method, and thought it would make an enjoyable story, and yet another way to introduce myself to the readers.
Without further ado, please allow me to introduce myself.
Resilient. I am nothing if not the comeback king. I’ve had many disappointments and setbacks in my life, but I have always managed to come back and re-invent myself into a new and improved version of myself.
Adaptive. It goes hand in hand with resilience. You have to find ways to overcome obstacles to keep going and growing. Years ago, I came across a quote that I don’t know who to attribute to, but it said, “Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”
Simple. Life is complicated enough. There is no need to make it any worse than it can be on its own. I am a simple man with simple desires, with a simple lifestyle. Nothing can be more simple than that.
Humble. Yes, even if I should say so myself. No one else will, anyway. Most everyone who knows me thinks that I am egotistical because I am not afraid to toot my horn when necessary.
Empowering. Ever since I was a child, I always played the role of a leader who empowered everyone around him. My friends can always count on me to help and support them and provide them inspiration and motivation. That’s why I became a public speaker.
Entrepreneur. Even when I worked in corporate America, I thought like an entrepreneur. A job was simply a contract between me and the employer; either can terminate it at will. I’ve fired a few bosses because they weren’t keeping their end of the bargain.
Diversified. I am a Scanner, as Barbara Sher used to define those who had multiple interests and who refused to choose only one. My personal descriptor is “A Jack of Many Trades and a Master of Some.” I am not an all-or-nothing guy.
I spell my Last Name the same way as my dad did, with two O’s. Two of my elder brothers spell it with a U. Don’t ask me, it’s their choice.
Honest. I don’t claim to be perfect; I don’t even try to be. However, I was brought up with the philosophy that “Honest is the best policy in life.” I do my best to adhere to that idea, to the best of my ability.
Optimistic. Yes, I always see the glass as half full. When others grab an umbrella because there is a 40% chance of rain, I put on the sunglasses knowing there is a 60% chance that it won’t rain.
Opportunist. That is natural when you are an optimist. With your rose-colored glasses on, you can’t see problems. You can only see opportunities. They say that more millionaires were created during the Great Depression than in any other period in American History.
Delightful. Did you know that you have to use 19 muscles in your face to create a frown, but only Six to create a smile? It’s simple math and science, folks. Why fight Nature? Take the painless way; it’s delightful.
Artist. I was not very good at drawing or painting as a child, and I’m still not any good at them. However, I found other ways to express myself creatively. I am an excellent photographer and a balloon twister. I like to sing and dance, though I don’t consider myself very good at it, I do it better than trying to draw or paint.
Now it’s your turn
I will tag some of my friends to give them another chance to introduce themselves anew. You can use the first name or the full name. It’s up to you.
Sherry McGuinn, P.G. Barnett, Timothy Key, Gurpreet Dhariwal, Sumera Rizwan, René Junge, Trista Ainsworth, Amy Marley, Dr. Mehmet Yildiz, Salam Khan, Priyanka Srivastava, Helen Cassidy Page, Kathryn A. LeRoy, Charles Roast, Tree Langdon ♾️, Terry Mansfield, Terri DelCampo-Nelson, Dipti Pande, Bob Jasper. Or anyone else who feels like playing.
As always, thank you for reading and responding.
