Summary

Rasheed Hooda attended Tony Robbins' Comeback Challenge Live, an event that exceeded its scheduled two-hour duration, leading to mixed feelings about the value and respect for attendees' time.

Abstract

Rasheed Hooda, a professional speaker and contributor to the ILLUMINATION community on Medium, shared his experience attending Tony Robbins' Comeback Challenge Live. The event, which was intended to last two hours, continued beyond that, causing Hooda to leave at the 2:59 mark due to frustration over the disrespect for his time. Despite gaining valuable insights, Hooda questioned whether the three-hour investment, including the frustration of the extended duration, was worth it. He criticized Robbins for an ego trip, emphasizing that even as a renowned figure, Robbins should respect the audience's time. Hooda also expressed concern about the waste of collective audience time, equating to thousands of hours, and the disrespect he felt from the experience. Nevertheless, he acknowledged the positive impact of Robbins' previous work, including his books and programs, and expressed a commitment to applying Robbins' message of self-sufficiency in his own life.

Opinions

  • Hooda believes that Tony Robbins' extended speaking time was disrespectful to the audience and demonstrated a lack of consideration for their valuable time.
  • He felt that the event's length, especially after exceeding the scheduled duration by 50%, was an unnecessary waste of community resources.
  • Hooda appreciated the value provided by Robbins but considered it questionable whether it justified the time spent and the accompanying frustration.
  • He criticized the preamble of the event, suggesting that Robbins' reputation precedes him and does not require extensive introductions or discussions of his experience and financial projections.
  • Despite his criticism, Hooda acknowledged the good that Robbins does with his earnings and the personal benefit he has gained from Robbins' books and programs.
  • Hooda concluded that Robbins lost his respect due to the disrespect shown at the event but remains open to learning from Robbins' message about self-sufficiency.

I Attended Tony Robbins’ Comeback Challenge, This Is What Happened

Is it even possible to not like it? Think again.

Yesterday, I attended Tony Robbins’ Comeback Challenge Live.

They scheduled it to be a two-hour event, but he was still talking with more to come from his staff after whenever he finished, about homework and such, when I checked out at the 2:59 mark.

When he reached the two-hour mark, he said he would go over by maybe 15 minutes.

As a professional speaker, I understand that sometimes you will go over your allotted time.

When you’re already 50% over your allotted time and still talking, you’re on an ego trip and being disrespectful to your audience. I don’t care that you’re Tony Robbins, my time is valuable.

When you have 60,000+ people listening online, every minute equals over one thousand hours of audience time. That is a terrible waste of community resources.

Did I get some value out of it? Absolutely!

Was it worth the three hours of my time along with the frustration to go with it? That is questionable.

You are Tony effing Robbins; that’s why we were there. You don’t need 30 minutes for someone else to tell us how much value we will get out of it, and another 20 minutes for you to tell us you’ve been doing this for 43 years before you get into the crux of the matter.

I am sorry that your 54 companies will not make the projected six billion dollars this year. I know you will be just fine and come back with a vengeance after the pandemic is over, and so will I, but that is no reason for you to be disrespectful to others.

I know you are doing a lot of good in this world with the money you make, and I appreciate your books and programs that have benefitted me tremendously. But I want you to know that you lost all the respect I had for you yesterday by being disrespectful to me and thousands of other people.

Stay blessed and be a blessing to those who need you as a teacher. I will take your message of being self-sufficient and apply it in my life. Thank you for being a part of my awakening.

As always, thank you for reading and responding.
