Spring report week 2

Primrose power

I’m a fan of “power plants", by which I don’t mean electrical power plants but mother nature’s creatures that paint colors when everything else looks dead:

I recently told you about this early spring and its power plant protagonists:

No doubt primroses are in my top 3 of power plants, despite the fierce competition for the throne…

Primroses are the first flowers of my balcony

Primroses growing wild from the soil I collect from nearby forests to make my compost are the first plants to bloom in my balcony.

Some of the primroses in my balcony are young and small yet thrive to gift us their colors, like this one who is no older than 2 years old:

Large colonies of primroses grow and bloom wild in parks and forest edges

Although not “natively wild”, planted primroses have spread wildly, and now you can find them everywhere in parks, gardens, even the sides of the forests where sufficient sunlight comes in.

For example here, all those yellow spots are wild primroses. Notice how the forest still looks pretty much “dead”:

Although yellow genetics dominate by far, it is sometimes possible to find flowers of other colors too:

Closeups on wild primroses

So simple, so resistant, and so beautiful:

Look at these patterns:

Look how elegant these are, wearing such delicate pink-orange-yellow hues:

And these with such vivid hues of pink and violet with yellow-orange cores:

Some plants have even degenerated, I imagine after several generations, growing very big and strong and blooming much more abundantly and higher than “regular” plants:

Like the colors of flowers?

Then I let you here some of the several stories where I focused on flowers and their colors. I have lots more as you can browse on my profile.
