These tree flowers could perfectly beat orchids in a beauty contest

A summary of the cutest tree flowers shot during my recent trip around Argentina. So beautiful that they can perfectly match and beat the most delicate orchids.

Some even call this one the “Orchid tree”

Shown in the lead photo from a slightly different angle, Bauhinia forficata is a tree whose flower very much resembles an orchid. Indeed in Brazil this tree goes by the name of “Orchid tree”:

From another plant:

To know more about this flower and plant and see photos of its different parts, check out this nice page:

Selection of drunken tree flowers of various colors

I told you more about “Palo borracho” in a dedicated story:

Their flowers are very colorful, and I think I am justified by comparing them to even the most vivid colors of orchids:

Now here enjoy my best shots of this tree’s most beautiful flowers.

In this first photograph, notice the delicate colors and how they paint swift gradients from yellow in the center to pink by the end of the petals:

The next flowers are yellow in the center, but the color fades slowly towards the ends of the petals:

This next one, well… I cannot even tell what color this is. Something in-between yellow and pink, I guess?

Now my favorite, deep pink with red stripes emanating from a pale-yellow center:

Unfortunately I couldn’t shoot this next one well, because the tree was too far and inaccessible. I hope you can appreciate the very pale pink of its flowers:

Like an yellow orchid rod

Compare this next flower, bloomed by a tree I featured recently…

… to this rod of yellow orchids:

OK, ok. The orchid might beat the tree in shapes, but consider that the tree has thousands of flowers on it!

One more on orchids and one more on tree flowers
