How to Show/Hide fields dynamically in Power BI

Did you know that you can allow users to dynamically choose the fields they want to see in a Power BI visual? This can be done using the Field Parameters feature in Power BI in less than 10 minutes.

I have used the same financial dataset used in the How to create a Power BI report in 15 mins : For absolute beginners article in this as well.
Let’s get right to it, shall we?
- Select “Fields” from “New Parameter” option in the Modeling tab

2. Specify a name to the list of fields under “Name”, select the fields required and click create. Make sure the Add slicer to this page option is enabled.

Now you will see a slicer with all the fields you selected on the Power BI canvas. In addition, in the Fields panel you will again see the selection list we created.

3. Now add the required visual onto the canvas and select the Selection List

THATS IT! Now, if you select field names from the selection list slicer, you will see the table getting dynamically updated according to the selection made.
Thanks for reading and do leave a clap if you found this useful!
