Portal 2’s Top Spot On Steam Could Be Replaced
People Playground is coming for Portal 2’s top spot on Steam.

In my past chats, I’ve chatted about all sorts of cool games. You can find those links later on in this post.
But right now, let’s dive into Portal 2 and this super surprising game that might just steal the show on Steam.
What is Portal 2?
So, Portal 2 is this absolutely mind-bending and super fun video game that’s like nothing you’ve ever played before. It’s the sequel to the original Portal game, and boy, did it step up the game in so many awesome ways.
Imagine being trapped in this futuristic science lab, with nothing but a special gun called the “portal gun.” Now, this ain’t your typical shooter. Instead of blasting enemies, you’re using this gun to create linked portals on walls, floors, and ceilings.
What’s wild is that you can step into one portal and instantly come out of the other one, like some sort of mind-bending teleportation. This simple concept becomes a mind-bending puzzle mechanic that will twist your brain into pretzels — in a good way!
But wait, there’s more! The game isn’t just about solving puzzles. It’s got a hilarious and darkly witty storyline that unfolds as you go along. You’re guided (and occasionally taunted) by an AI named GLaDOS, who has a knack for making you laugh while also making you feel a bit uneasy. The interactions with GLaDOS and other characters are pure gold.
The game also introduced a co-op mode, where you and a buddy can team up to solve even more complex puzzles. This mode takes the brain-twisting action to a whole new level as you coordinate with your partner to fling each other through portals and work together to figure out mind-boggling challenges.
Visually, the game is a treat. The environments range from sterile, futuristic labs to overgrown, post-apocalyptic areas, all filled with intricate details that make the world feel so real — well, as real as a puzzle-filled science experiment can be.
But the real star here is the brain-teasing gameplay. Portal 2 challenges your creativity, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills in ways that will have you scratching your head, yelling in triumph, and laughing at the sheer absurdity of it all. Each puzzle is like a mini Eureka moment waiting to happen.
The new top game on Steam?
Portal 2 is the big cheese on Steam right now, but its primo position might be swiped by the indie sensation People Playground. Portal 2 dropped in 2011 and critics went nuts for it — it’s like the grand poobah of video games, you know what I mean?
So, in the limelight is Chell, our not-so-lucky lab rat, who’s stuck dealing with the twisted GLaDOS once again. Just like the original Portal gig, Chell’s job is to crack some seriously mind-bending puzzles using that legendary Portal Gun.
People rave about its jokes, the gripping story, and those brain-twisting puzzles. No wonder it’s the top dog on Steam with a whopping 97.71% score.
But hold your horses, ’cause People Playground is getting cozy right behind Portal 2. It’s a sandbox game where you can play dollhouse with ragdolls using all sorts of creative deadly toys. Released in 2019, it’s like 200,000 thumbs up on Steam, with an eye-popping 97.51% rating.
People Playground is like David ready to take on the gaming Goliath, Portal 2. But there’s a gang of other contenders, too — Vampire Survivors, Stardew Valley, Hades, the original Portal, and Terraria, all scoring over 97%. It’s a royal rumble for that top spot.
And guess what else? Check out the other hotshots in the top 10: Rimworld, the VR superstar Half-Life: Alyx, and Left 4 Dead 2. Some fresh faces have strolled into this party, too, so who’s to say a new champ won’t crash the scene?
Final Words
Just think, if Valve ever drops a Half-Life 3 that lives up to the hype, it could be the next top dog.
Stay tuned, ’cause the game leaderboard is shakin’ and stirrin’. It’s like a wild rollercoaster ride watching who’s gonna rock that top spot!
